Now get out of here, before I say something unkind

I think Sisko would absolutely hate it at first but I think there would have been good potential for drama and comedy. I also like the idea of Sisko going from Curzon's protege to Jadzia's colleague to now Ezri's paternal figure, by way of her dating Jake. "Well I remember when I was Curzon and we met those dancers on Pelios Station and I still remember what they did, well Jake seems to like-" "OLD MAN NOT ANOTHER WORD OUT OF YOUR MOUTH."
You'd have to sink the Bashir and Worf relationships but I'm fine with that. But I understand why of course they went the way they did.

The Worf relationship was with Jadzia. And the Bashir one was just boring. When I saw them kiss on the elevator, it was with simple resignation, a hint of "well at least that's over with".

Yes, the Bashir-Ezri relationship seemed completely forced. "This is where the script says we kiss. Oh, okay." Partly it just started at the end of season 7 and there wasn't enough time to show it along with all the other things that they had going on.

Given that the authority for what happened is only Ezri's flustered and breathless account to Sisko, it's quite possible that the medical officer DID check with the Commission and Ezri just thought it was obvious and not interesting enough to tell Sisko about. I'd be surprised if performing the joining surgery was written up in an ordinary passenger ship's doctor's instruction manual, they'd probably have to contact the Trill homeworld for instructions anyway.

Once again "The Host" from TNG mucks things up. Given how (relatively) easy it was to implant the symbiont into a human host and remove it so that a proper Trill host could continue on with the symbiont, you have to wonder why choosing a non-vetted Trill was the best option (plot reasons aside). We know from "Invasive Procedures" that the (Trill) host dies hours after the symbiont is removed, so why risk a poor match with a Trill that could leave the host dead and the symbiont facing the side effects of that?

Of course, some dialogue could have fixed all of this. "Ensign, I seem to remember a human hosting a symbiont for a brief time with no ill effects on him or the symbiont, wouldn't that have been a better option so that the Dax symbiont could get to the Trill Symbiosis Commission?" "That was a different type of symbiont, Ben. Since it subsumes the host's personality, they are more resilient when implanted in non-Trills." "Ah, yes, that strange bonding that really screws up transporter sensors." "Exactly."

I think the issue is that a symbiont is weakened by the transplantation process. If Dax was already weak from its injuries, it's possible that playing musical hosts might kill it. That's the rationale for giving it to Ezri. I'm just questioning whether saving Dax's life justified risking Ezri's sanity.

The trills got more than just a make up do over, they were made more of a cooperative entity, rather than in TNG the host, where the host didn’t really have any input, it was mostly the symbiont using the host as a remote.

Jadzia got beamed by the Prophets before she was ever beamed by a Cardassian transporter…

it’s another one of those suspension of disbelief things, we have to assume that the trills figured out a way of avoiding being killed by transporters. but it was never talked about in any of the shows. Maybe in some of the books.

The Sisko of course asked Ezri to stay, but Worf talked her into it.

I thought Nicole did a good job of portraying the mental dismay of somebody who had ended up with a symbiont without any preparation. She needed her own services as much as poor old Garak.

The counselor was the most neurotic person on the station.

she developed a level of competency later, but that little encounter with Worf didn’t help much, and then getting captured by Breen and sold to shape shifters and Vorta. Weyoun got a little bit too close to Worf though haha.

It took Jadzia a year before she started becoming more than just a walking computer. I think my favorite episode with Jadzia is the one with Fiona Flannigan, which showed the lengths she would go to protect a secret.

I think I liked the mirror Ezri. I think they were trying to manipulate camera angles in that Emporers Cloak episode to make it look like she was taller than the regular Ezri. But then we finally get a likable version of Brunt and The Intendant stabs him bfhaha!

Yes, it's the right link. And like I said. Given a choice between boring scruffy Bashir and evil fascist work camp leader Odo, I know which one I'd want to see more of.
