It’s fitting the farewell to the enterprise in the museum uses the generations suite. Instead of being abandoned as a wreck, she’s lovingly cared for

Just waiting for Amazon UK to put the cd up now so I can order it. Been a long time since I've bought a soundtrack but this one is definitely worth it.

Qobuz as @cal888 linked above allows purchase of full PCM 24bit uncompressed drm free files. I have purchased my copy from there.

Mine as well, and that is the most triumphant fanfare I have heard to date at the end there. The addition of more horns makes it sound amazing,

Soundtrack gets more amazing with every listen. You pick up on things that you didn’t the first times.

Like the Klingon motif they threw into Invisible Rescue when the Titan cloaks. I didn’t hear those at all during live viewing, probably because of the sound effects/mixing.

Am I correct in noting that the opening ‘sting’ title music and regular end credits (other than the finale credits) are missing from the album? I am guessing that there were too many legalities about reselling those pieces of music in this format.

Pretty much. The opening title music is a combination of the first few notes of the First Contact opening titles, and the last few notes of Jeff Russo's PIC S1 theme (which is also the Goldsmith theme, but anyway).

The end credits is literally a truncated version of the FC End Credits. They all use the original recordings and I think to add them to the album would involve too many royalties/union issues.Whereas the finale end credits is a new recording of the Goldsmith End Credits theme (the Nemesis version I believe actually judging by the start of it?) conducted by Barton so is easier to include. I think.

Yup, all of those pieces are edits of previously-released cues, so there's no point in going through the expense of paying for them. I remember Matalas mentioning there were plenty of union issues just trying to get the set as is finally released.

Here is a Tubecast (is that even a thing? Like a Podcast?) containing an interview with Steven Barton and Frederik Weismann about the Picard season 3 soundtrack.

I know that it is not Picard related, but the subject of this long overdue soundtrack album has appeared several times in this thread. At *long* last, the Strange New Worlds Soundtrack by Nami Melumad is out.

    Links here. :adore:

Here is a mini Tweet documentary about the soundtrack in Picard season 3 and how the composers Steven Barton and Fred Wiedmann, along with Mr Matalas (armed with his Fisher Price xylophone) tried to honour the shows history whilst composing it:

I cannot embed Tweets here yet like with YouTube videos…. but… a feature hopefully coming soon to a BBS near you! :D

According to Matalas on Twitter they are releasing a second volume. No date though.

Hopefully it includes the end credits track, which was sadly missing from the first release.

All of the good tunes were on volume one that I don’t think I’ll bother with volume 2.

Was there that much left off that it needs a second album? Still getting it though.

I think he’s referring to the vinyl. The cd and digital versions were longer.
