Enough of these prequels. The true present is the 32nd century, and Starfleet Academy.
This could very well be for the best, as much as it disenfranchises me of the Star Trek franchise.Enough of these prequels. The true present is the 32nd century, and Starfleet Academy.
Season 3 was a hit by fans and critics. It was in the top 10 of streaming shows according to Nielsen (the first Star Trek show to make it). It seems like a no brainer.
What are the chances of a spinoff in your opinion? I know I want it! I agree with Terry Matales, 25th century is the present time of Star Trek.
I want to see 7 as captain. The growth of Jack. I want to see more legacy characters like Kira, O'Brien, Mortak, Bashir, Paris, etc.
Enough of these prequels. The true present is the 32nd century, and Starfleet Academy.
Did they save any of the leftover Picard sets? I'm assuming not.
There's a couple things that make me think that if Paramount was opposed to a "Legacy" series, some of the things that happened wouldn't have happened.I think the "conversations" are a little more advanced given the way Gates McFadden and Jon Frakes are acting.
But we'll see.
Having to move them to Toronto from LA would largely negate any such advantages.they've already built quite a few sets for the Enterprise-G gives them some affordability advantages
AKA---the future.Star Trek doesn't have any one "true present" anymore.
Maybe it did back when Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and the Next Generation films were all being produced and set at the same time, between 1993 and 2001.
But it didn't have any one "true present" from 1987 to 1993, when Next Generation and the Original Series films were both in production. It didn't have a "true present" from 2001 to 2005, when both Enterprise and Nemesis were produced. And it doesn't have any one "true present" today.
2256-2258 is the true present on seasons one and two of Discovery. 2259 is the true present on Strange New Worlds. 2380-2381 is the true present on Lower Decks. 2383-2384 is the true present on Prodigy. 2399-2401 is the true present on Picard. And 3188-3190 is the true present on seasons three and four of Discovery.
It's all equally the true present.
Having to move them to Toronto from LA would largely negate any such advantages.

Has anyone actually run those numbers?
I think you overestimate the cost of shipping the sets and severely underestimate the cost of the materials, time and effort to build them.
Moving a bunch of shipping containers from LA up the US west coast into Canada is nothing
I'm sure someone has, though I do not have access them.Has anyone actually run those numbers?
Don't know if it's true, but I've read in other places that the Titan/Enterprise-G sets were destroyed at the end of production. Only the Enterprise-D set was put in storage. If nothing else, the fact that they've already built quite a few sets for the Enterprise-G gives them some affordability advantages.
