What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Season 2 was better thanks to Pike and the Enterprise but Control was somehow even dumber and more pointless than the Klingon War, and don't get me started on Section 31. Goes to show you can get a better year of Trek out of being dumb so long as you have the right characters and actors.

I can't stand Pike. He was such a bore to me and I saw no reason for him to be in command of Discovery during that series' second season.

They're noisy enough that it scares CBS/Paramount from doing anything terribly different.
We're watching season 1 of TNG. It has problems. But it's still remarkable that other than the BIG SHOUT OUT of remaking The Naked Time they really did not want to intersect with almost any of TOS.

Then Paramount made two shows (Voyager and Enterprise) that have every reason in the world to NOT call back to Ferengi, Borg, and all the TNG (and in the case of Voyager TOS) stuff. And they just. Can't. Do it.

There's still one episode of Picard Season 3 to go, but though I've enjoyed it I'm going to say that I think Picard Season 1 is far superior to 3.
Picard season 1 at least had its own rules.

It's only the past few weeks Ive realised that there's a huge element of the fandom that I just don't relate to at all. Which is fine. I've enjoyed PIC S3 while at the same time finding the overall writing a bit rubbish (although still a masterpiece compared to S2). Yet so many fans are in utter HEAVEN and are genuinely in rapture over all the continuity, cameos and callbacks. Personally,
I don't get it. There are some things I wouldn't have missed for the world (WORF!) but it feels like they're just letting the actors run around on the sets. Disco and SNW feel like masterpieces in consistency and tone by comparison.

There is nothing wrong with Enterprise's theme song.
Damn Skippy. But they needed Gagarin in the credits. I think I'm going to go listen to it now. Might even go find some good covers. Or Rod Stewart.

For no reason at all, I'm going to say this: "Captain has a catch phrase and the characters are aware of it in universe" MUST STOP NOW.

(Are trailers subject to spoiler warnings?)

Pike is my favorite starship captain, after Robau.
SNW Pike or The Cage Pike? (Or JJ Pike?) SNW Pike is either my favorite or second favorite captain.

Robau: The thing that JJ Trek did right was it made the other captains generally awesome. As opposed to most other Trek where they are drooling morons. At best.

People we know in real life have things they say all the time, and we take note (especially prefaced by "you know what I always say/so-and-so used to say..."). Why not captains?
Absolutely true. But we don't walk up to those people and say "Hey, what is your thing you say? You need to pick one, you know." This has literally happened... More than once now.

He had a great follow up from Baby Yoda though.

And, the Menagerie is my less enjoyable of TOS simply because it relies too heavily on the Talosians.
The Cage was pushing the envelope of contemporary science fiction, The Menagerie was a poorly contrived excuse to deliver two network episodes from it.
