Imagine how relieved he was when they all left. Hey, there's a new Chief Medical Officer reporting in today...I don’t know that this is controversial or anything, but the current ads for Strange New Worlds where Spock reports on something, La’an asks if he ever speaks in plain English and Una laughs at it annoys the hell out of me. He’s doing his job and they’re being uncharacteristically immature jerks to him about it.
McCoy:"I'm Leonard McCoy. I just transferred here from a posting on Capella IV."
"Welcome aboard, Doctor. Dr. M'Benga and Nurse Chapel will be eager to get to know you."
"Vulcan, huh?"
"I am half-Vulcan, Doctor McCoy, my mother is human."
"I can already see I'm gonna have a LOTTA fun here."
Is that even in the same scene? Sometimes they cut different scenes together in the trailers that have nothing to do with each other.I don’t know that this is controversial or anything, but the current ads for Strange New Worlds where Spock reports on something, La’an asks if he ever speaks in plain English and Una laughs at it annoys the hell out of me. I love TNG in general, but there is an episode where Crusher asks Data for 'English, please.' It takes me completely out of the scene because Crusher is literally an MD commissioned in Starfleet, as demonstrated in many episodes, and should have more than enough vocabulary skills to understand Data's explanation!I don’t know that this is controversial or anything, but the current ads for Strange New Worlds where Spock reports on something, La’an asks if he ever speaks in plain English and Una laughs at it annoys the hell out of me. DATA: Captain, I believe I have a partial explanation. I have completed my analysis of the anomaly. It appears to be a multi-phasic temporal convergence in the space-time continuum.
CRUSHER: In English, Data.
DATA: It is, in essence, an eruption of anti-time.
My dad has a degree too. He has 40 years experience in his field. He gets confused by my mom and I talking the specifics of medicine and side effects from our fields. I think it's also a tired and worn out joke line that even the Big Bang resorted to.My dad has a degree too. He has 40 years experience in his field. He gets confused by my mom and I talking the specifics of medicine and side effects from our fields. It happens.
No! Not the Big Bang! How dare they...*looks up Big Bang* tell jokes on a sitcom...!?!I think it's also a tired and worn out joke line that even the Big Bang resorted to.
Or how about actually having a Star Trek show divorced from any major callbacks/relation to TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY, etc? Create a series set a few decades after Archer. Call it "To Boldly Go" or something. It's also time to permanently end the Trek franchise. I think it has run out steam. Perhaps a new sci-fi franchise can be created, instead of rehashing an old one.
Star Trek cannon became a labyrinth they couldn't escape. TNG looked like Trek but the ship was ran like a corporate operation. the Borg were corporate raiders, Q the all knowing, all seeing IRS. No kids on the bridge unless they are the son of an old flame. DS9 had The Maquis, (IBM"S Apple) Upstart competitor using innovative disruptive tactics. It's also time to permanently end the Trek franchise. I think it has run out steam. This is my view as well. Regardless of what people actually like or watch, the vocal pushback will make Paramount more skittish. It's actually closer to radio stations and how they play very familiar popular songs. It's so people don't change the channel on them. Paramount is fearful that negative pushback will lead to unsubscribing. That's a tenuous position to be in.I think part of the problem is there's a very vocal subset of the fandom that is more interested in the minutiae and connecting the dots of the "Star Trek Universe" than the stories taking place. They're noisy enough that it scares CBS/Paramount from doing anything terribly different.
