The Outer Limits 1995 series.

7 seasons?! I didn't even know it got past season 1. I remember watching this on BBC 2 but I think they only broadcast one season, maybe two.

In the late 90s definitely. OZ and THE SOPRANOS were HBO's first hour-long classic dramas, and definitely not Clark Kentish in approach.

SUCCESSION's not for boy scouts either. But they all beat watching CSI ripoffs with under-35 blonde supersleuths.

It's not good behavior*. It's HBO.

(*unless Tom Hanks steps in.)

Hey you leave Catherine alone she's mine...... And she's older then 35 lol

I loved the 90's version of the Outer Limits. It had some really great stories, and you'll find that they even return to do followups to certain stories, which was rather unusual for an anthology show.

Paradise was a good episode. And they had the second outing for Robert Patrick's character from the last season where he was with Ezri and she betrayed him.

But to be honest season 3 isn't really grabbing me

Liked the ones with Nicole de Boer and Alyssa Milano. Hubba hubba.

Seriously though, I think my favourite one is from Season 3, called Tempests.

I just watched that one and yeah it was one of the better ones so far. I also liked Double Helix, the one with the scientist who meddles with his own dna and finds a map, that was different.

Is that the one with Will from Will and Grace, and the whole "Which reality is the real one?" plot?

The problem with the clip shows is that they 1) often tied episodes together that had no BUSINESS being tied together, and 2) also often, actually changed the content of said episodes!

For instance, clips from "A Stitch in Time" (Amanda Plummer as the rape victim travelling through time to murder her attackers) were used in "Final Appeal". But they edited out all scenes involving the FBI agent who was after her. So it would seem that the "Final Appeal" version of this episode does not take place in the same 'universe' as the original episode.

And then there were the multi-episode arcs. Some were interesting, like the Innobotics Corporation arc. But others were not good at all, like the attempted sequels to "Tribunal" which was my favorite episode. But I can also use the "different universes" excuse on that as well.

Yep. Probably the scariest final scene ever.

I've seen bits and pieces of this when it was on Syfy or one of the other cable channels, but that's about it. It is one I've been thinking about checking out some time.
Seasons 2-7 are currently available on Freevee/Amazon Prime.

OMG that episode "Special Edition" not bad for a clip show they even showed a clip from season 4 despite that being the final episode of season 3.. And that guy with the quantum mirror episode that was interesting.

I take it they must have wrapped filming on season 4 to include that clip

I believe 4 episodes were produced for season 3 but got back for some reason. (Much like what UPN did to VGR's first 2 seasons.) The reason, I don't know.

But the numbers fit... 22 episodes per season, except 3 and 4, with 18 and 26.

Well, the Voyager episodes were held back so that UPN could start the new season a month early and get a headstart on the competition. Maybe Showtime wanted to do something similar.

That's the only reason I could think of, but I can't find anything to corroborate that.

Showtime was, and still is, a premium pay service, so that reason doesn't fit as easily as UPN's, who were directly competing with the big 4 (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) for more eyes to watch them when the fall season started.

The Outer Limits 2nd season premiere—A Stitch in Time—was a solid ep: a dark take on time travel by Steven Barnes with very good performances by two recent Star Trek: Picard vets, Michelle Forbes and Amanda Plummer (who got an Emmy for her work).

Is there any particular reason why this show is so hard to find on home video? I'm not aware of any season DVD releases. And since it's Showtime, I'm guessing streaming is not an option. :(

This is a little hidden gem I just discovered. I never really cared for it that much when it was on TV but now having the full set I find myself enjoying this series. Currently on season 2 and some of the episodes are really great.

Like Trek they have 40 odd minutes to tell a story but the thing I find with some of the stories is that they are good, really and feel like they could have been longer IMHO.

For instance Worlds Apart was a story I really liked and it felt like had it been a two parter which was very rare in this series it would have been great. I felt they had a really good story to tell but didn't get to tell it all, or finish it properly and I wanted the astronaut rescued.
Underrated. One of the best anthologies out there. They have several multi-parters, and Amanda Plummer won an Emmy for one of those multi-part stories.
