Well, if the material that makes Star Trek unique is not worthy enough to convey high stakes, what good is it really doing the franchise when nothing else matters? Audiences that are only looking for real locations to care about don't really come off as the type of audience who will get the most out of Trek. What good is a premise of boldly going where no one has gone before if all you want to do is stay where you are?The reason they put so much focus on Earth is because it’s the only real location that would illicit a response from the audience.
