Two things I wish had been slightly different:
  • Instead of just saying "I was saving it as a surprise one day" I'd rather Geordi said something like "I've been working on something for years now, any spare moment I can get. I was hoping to reveal it as a surprise on your 100th birthday... she's not quite ready, but she'll have to do..."
  • Geordi saying that he'd been acquiring parts from multiple Galaxy-class ships as they were either retired or upgraded for the last 20 years. The Challenger, the Venture, the Magellan, the Syracuse, maybe the Galaxy herself (though I'd like to believe she's still in service somewhere and becomes the longest serving Galaxy-class ship in Starfleet history).

Let's be real. They didn't know what to do with Tasha. Michael Piller knew what to do with Shelby.

I think they would have figured her out, but had she stayed we would have likely lost Deanna or Worf wouldn’t have anything to do. And Shelby was in one story.
My point is Tasha was all the things attributed to Shelby, and also Blonde.

It looks that way, but some things out weigh personal responsibility, like reporting on a potential major threat against...the Galaxy.

I agree she's been under-served but it may be because Sirtis was only in the US to film for a short time.
Sirtis has been known to be... fiesty with her demands when acting and she has a salty mouth. Perhaps they could only get her for a limited time and had to use her for key scenes.

Troi really hasn't been used well this season. Not appearing for most of it. Then when she has her big moment, she runs. I've read that Sirtis wasn't happy with her role this season. If that's true, I can see why. Hopefully, she'll have good moments in the finale.

She runs to something, not away. And she seemed to be doing proper telepath counsellor stuff.

As someone who disliked Shelby and her arrogance towards the TNG crew when it first aired, I greatly enjoyed seeing Riker live and Shelby getting two phaser hits pumped into her arrogant ass. It was a massive hit of dopamine, and brought closure to me.

I've really enjoyed this season, and was totally hyped for the last two episodes. There were some great moments in this episode, but ultimately the reveal in the first 5 minutes killed it for me. I probably half-expected (or even more than half) it to be the Borg, but I hadn't realized how much I didn't want it to be them until they were revealed. I then spent the rest of the episode in a mood, which even the last 5 minutes couldn't penetrate. Killing off Shaw seemed fairly anti-climactic and was done in arguably the most predictable way possible.

Seems most folks liked it, and happy days to them, but I really didn't..... :(
Predictable is a good word for it.

Damn. The schadenfreude is strong.

It's pretty obvious to any Star Trek fan? Do I really need to explain why this episode is a masterpiece? lol
honestly…yes.
They went to a set replica like fan films have been doing for decades and we all loved it, but the episode itself had more holes than Swiss cheese.
Again, there were some nice moments and some well done stuff, but this seasons had much better episodes imho.

Story time: I was born during TNGs Season 2, in 1989. In the baby video of my first bath, you can hear Picard and Troi talking in the background on the TV. My entire life I have been a trekkie, because Star Trek has been a constant all this time. I was thrilled by the 2009 Star Trek movie and it's sequels, because they were new Star Trek and the first of it that I actually enjoyed since First Contact. Since then, it has only gotten better and better with each new movie and TV show. But this? As Data said, "This is new."

I never accepted the destruction of the Enterprise-D. It always felt like Picard and the crew just gave up on her, and let her go too easily. The Enterprise-D was what got me into Star Trek IN THE FIRST PLACE. Seeing her again, today, after 29 years? It almost broke me. I missed her so much, and I was a complete puddle of tears for that last ten minutes or so. I'm already prepping my fan-fiction to reflect the aftermath of this season, and have my character, Captain Clark, insist on returning to the bridge of his old "analogue" training ship, the USS Allegheny, following whatever next episode's outcome may be, based on the simple fact that it would, like presumably all older ships, be harder for the Borg to commandeer. In fact I see the Galaxy-class once again becoming very sought after by captains in-universe because of their vintage charm and simpler style, kinda like old car or old video game enthusiasts. Also let's face it, just because something is old doesn't mean you throw it away.

Truly awful in every way... :barf: You should be ashamed.

Those uppity women sure do need to keep their place right? Wow
