Found on reddit--

Vadic and Seven have both been ripped from their collectives and forced to make new ones. That's why the line "fitting that you're here" makes sense.

Thus it does NOT mean that Jack is necessarily a Borg. He is trying to reconnect with some red themed group behind that door though.

"Red themed group."

Hmm...

[ Soviet National Anthem Intensifies ]

the Romulan Reclamation Site was established within the cube. It was controlled by the Romulan Free State, who captured the cube and profited from the exploitation of Borg technology. Through treaty with the Federation, both governments worked there as guests of the Borg Artifact Research Institute. All technology and drones aboard the vessel had been rendered inactive, although researchers were warned to take special measures when entering the gray zone.

You kind of think if there had been some connection between ex-Borg and irumodic syndrome, all that research would've discovered it a while ago.

"Red themed group."

Hmm...
It's Red Squad. They injected Picard with a subliminal desire to recruit for them. Why he was so eager to tell Jack to join Starfleet. :nyah:

It's more like the "irumodic syndrome", or whatever, has become something else because of his assimilation, something even the Borg didn't know hence why there's no data from the Collective about it. What if Locutus has somehow become a seperate non-corporeal entity after Picard was disconnected?

Once more, another episode has ended on a note of frustration for me. I wish this season had been less than 10 episodes.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but oh fucking Christ I sincerely hope not, that would be the dumbest shit I've ever seen in Star Trek, and that includes Beverly making it with a candle ghost.

Eh, not really. The deal at the end of Space Seed was Kirk gave him a new planet to try his hand on. Wasn't Kirk's fault the sun exploded, and blaming him seemed like a rationalisation by a psycho.
Khan felt slighted by the fact that by being abandoned and ignored on Ceti Alpha V it meant that the explosion of Ceti Alpha VI was not noticed and as a result they (Khan, the Augments and his wife) were left to die a slow death.

Now is Khan a egotistical monster? Yes of course. However his motives for wanting revenge on Kirk are no less twisted than Vadic. The Changlings used genetic warfare, enslaved races, created slave warriors, etc but somehow it only became bad when they were the ones experimented on.

Both are born out of extreme selfishness and double standards, but both are reactions most people would likely fall into.
I think Racefuel highlights this, but I'll go further and say, yes it's a rationalization from someone experiencing a psychotic break. How else are they supposed to cope with that loss? Khan's motives makes sense and so do Vadic's. That's not "psycho," in the sense of "they're." That's psychotic, i.e. they experienced an intense trauma and this is their way of trying to manage it. Is it healthy? No. But it makes sense.

For Khan I think it's somewhat understandable in that it's how someone with his ego and trauma might act and think. But Vadic has a point- she's not entirely wrong.

Villains are never wrong inside their own viewpoint. They are the heroes of their stories.
This episode definitely and in-universe confirms that the viewscreen isn't a window on the Titan-A. So there's that. That's gotta be worth something.
Somehow I will still like this season but that is straining my goodwill though.

I think they did a really good job in this episode and season with Captain Riker and what they’ve been trying to do since Picard started.

He’s clearly older and has interesting tweaks to his depth. His scene with Troi in this one. When he talks with Picard. His hallway scene with Jack early on.

But he still says hilarious and flippant Riker things and you can see bits of his “I’m f-ing Will Riker and I’ll sit in a chair my own way” badassery.

I think with him, Troi and Geordi they have done an especially good job showing people who have grown, changed and suffered but are recognizable. Like friends you’ve known a long time.

Also, thought the episode was good. Except they pushed me too far on the Jack mystery this time. I was patient until the end of this episode. But the cliffhanger hand on the door was too much. It’s too much build up. Unless he opens the door and finds some Kahn as a Shapeshifting Borg Pah Wraith being controlled by the bugs from Conspiracy or something it’s going to be a let down after all that build up.

Agreed on all counts. When Vadiv shoed all the non-classic characters out of the room with 10-15minutes to go, I thought "finally, we'll get an explanation". But nooo...

They realized that having the door open up at the end of this episode to show a Borg would leave the audience rolling in laughter for a week and then skip the next 2 episodes.

For 33 years Star Trek has been searching for that high of the cliffhanger of Locutus at the end of the Best of Both Worlds. "Jean Luc..."
