It IS the same thing. Someone belioeves a major studio used something they designed, and they feel slighted/owed reimbursement. It's something NO major studio wants to take a chance on - so NO, Paramount isn't just going to go to the Deviant Art website and take a fan design they like. They're going to continue to go to and use resources they KNOW they own lock stock and barrel.Did he design a ship without copyrighting it? Because that’s what we’re talking about here.

Are we eluding to a specific example or just discussing it generally?CBS made a show that had some similarities to some guy’s video game that CBS obviously knew nothing about. That’s not remotely the same thing as what we’re talking about. We’re talking about CBS/Paramount willfully taking a fan design off the internet without reimbursing/giving credit to the person who designed it.
Beat me to itBill's original Shangri-La Mk2 class can also be seen in the Titan-A's conference room representing a 2390s Titan. He also designed a mid-23rd Century Stargazer for the Stargazer's conference room.
No, and they didn't have to, part of the contest rules was the rights of the winning design went to CBS.Wheh it comes to the Original Titan and Sean Tourangeau I am not certain. I wonder if anyone in the Lower Decks production team credited him for the Luna Class' inclusion.
I did not know thatNo, and they didn't have to. The Luna Class is owned by CBS, that was part of the contest terms.
As in representing Rikers Titan ?Bill's original Shangri-La Mk2 class can also be seen in the Titan-A's conference room representing a 2390s Titan. He also designed a mid-23rd Century Stargazer for the Stargazer's conference room.

The Titan and Intrepid designs (Constitution III and Duderstadt class respectively) are both fan designs used in partnership with Bill Krause, who goes by the name Admiral Buck on instagram.
Not sure if that was mentioned yet
oops, I meant 2290sAs in representing Rikers Titan ?

So the Navy will start building ships that look like they were designed in the 1900's any time now!
Spaceships can be any shape as long as there's enough room inside for the necessary equipment for them to function.
Well I always remember those words of Will Riker:
Right now I'm on the bridge of the toughest, fastest, most powerful ship Starfleet ever put into service. And I got a fleet of them at my back.
He's talking about Inquiry class. So it seems that's a warship some kind.
Not a difficult one but a terrible one in my opinion. Titan-A is a horrible ship with a stupid name and back story.
Actually, they said the ship was built in the 2280’s. Retroactively, it would have been awesome for the Enterprise-A.
According to the "Picard Logs" the USS Titan under Saavik was launched in 2290, but yeah..close enough.
Silly, perhaps. But born out of what we’ve seen on screen. No, it's just a silly one.
