Yellowjackets

Yes I'd agree it was very much an "episode 1" but enjoyable all the same.

Are the girls who are speaking now actually the same girls from S1?

Re the ear it was only at the end that I put two and two together with the episode title  The Evolution of Horror podcast did an episode on Yellowjackets and their assessment was that in many ways Shauna might be the scariest of the girls but you don't notice because Melanie Lynskey is so damn likeable!

I think Natalie is the closest thing to a hero the show has (in the past and the present day). I did laugh at how dumb kidnap woman was for falling for Nat's ploy!

Misty's investigation was fun (is it wrong that's I'd watch a Misty Investigates show?) and it seems clear that Taissa fully understands what she does, though she seems to do it while asleep.

Javi, alive or dead?

Just watched season 1 and really enjoyed it. Was absolutely hooked from e3 when you first see creepy eyes guy and the kid is acting strange. Slowed down a bit towards the end though.

Was anyone else 100% sure that Adam was the younger kid from the crash ?

I hadn't thought of that but have heard it mooted elsewhere.

Also heard it suggested that Adam could be
Shauna's baby all grown up which would be super icky!

Do we have to use spoiler tags in this thread? Is it implied if you open a thread called "Yellowjackets"?

Just in case...

Shauna and Jeff were really stupid going to his art studio and ruining those paintings. That just looks more suspicious. "We had a car accident, he fixed my car, maybe he became obsessed?" And burning the driver's license...my wife immediately said "that's not going to burn." Now to Lottie kidnapping Natalie...what's the deal with that? What is the plan there? And I guess they're going to eat Jackie? Maybe? Who is the girl they killed in the opening scene of Season One?

Looking forward to seeing where this all goes. Great show.

Yeah we probably don't need spoiler code, I don't know the rules. I just didn't want to spoil ear-snacking.

Well the singing girl and the two sitting with her new, but we can pretend the non-speaking extras in season one were them. I do wish they'd give an exact count on how many of them are living in the cabin at this point.

I'm happy without spoiler code, I'm not going to come into this thread until I've seen each week's episode.

Yeah I can see why they might be keeping the actual number of survivors vague but I don't even have a vague idea how many of them there are!

Yeah I wondered how they were going to get there, and I loved the surreal bacchanalian feast they showed

I'm glad not everyone partook. I fear Ben isn't going to make it out of the wilderness.

I also suspect Natalie faking Javi's death is going to come back to bite her.

I keep stopping myself from Googling "what does human flesh taste like."

Ben is the only main character whose fate is still a total mystery. I hope he isn't their next meal, but he's not going to live long if he refuses to eat...

They always say pork but I don't know how much truth there is in that. Presumably the term long-pig came from somewhere though.

Well we know Nat, Shauna, Misty, Lottie, Travis and Taissa all make it out, and given someone's been cast as the older version
Van
must as well.

So that leaves Ben, Javi and the NPCs :p (unless I'm forgetting anyone.)

I'm hoping they have a clear(ish) plan and are aiming to wrap things up within 2/3 seasons

Who is the girl they kill in the opening sequence?

Who knows. One imagines it's one of the 'extras' from S1 who now have proper speaking parts, though I had forgotten that the girl killed at the start is wearing Jackie's necklace, which was last seen being gifted to Shauna...

Actually just watched the cannibal bits of the first episode again. All we get to see is that the girl is white, has brown or black hair and seems to be wearing Jackie's necklace.

Oh I did notice one other thing, while we can only identify Misty, one thing is clear, they all have two legs ;)

And presumably that's their second winter in the wilderness?

I might pay for Showtime for one month just to see this and the Dexter revival. Just not enough on Showtime to justify continuously paying.

I just decided to check this show out yesterday and I have now watched all of season 1 and the 2 eps of season 2, I may have hemorrhoids from being glued to my chair this long. It's VERY GOOD!

I was a little put off by it being potentially horror and/or too supernatural as that is not my thing at all but I can see this is done with a very deft hand. Nothing overloaded, nothing over writing the fantastic acting and psychological development of the characters.

Jeff continues to be a highlight. Excellent use of Papa Roach.

Agree!! What a gem.

Did not expect the cannibalism to start with Shauna eating Jackie's ear but it makes a sick kind of sense.

It was all there in the episode title..

Except it can't be Shauna, unless this show is really leaning into the supernatural elements and Melanie Lynskey is playing a zombie!

So the necklace wearer..

It won't be one of the background people unless they become prominent this season.

Could you see their skin colour in the opening death scene? I remembered them as white.

I'm kind of assuming it's either Jackie come back to life who they kill or Shauna who eventually does come back to life after being killed. I like how everything led up to it being Jackie until.. it isn't

Episode 3 didn't move things along much.

What is the deal with Lottie and whatsername? Why is she still at this stupid place? Is she going to fall for her spiritual BS?

Shauna and Jeff are both beyond stupid. Jeff going after the cop in the gym would be a major red flag for any police officer. I think they are mishandling that whole situation.

I do like Misty and her new Hobbit boyfriend, though...

It's fantastic. Not normally my cup of tea either, but I stumbled across a lot of talk about it last year and me and my wife got hooked. Enjoying Season 2 so far. Misty (played by both actresses) is an absolute creation of a character.

Great show! Glad there's a thread for it.
