open to appearing in ST 09 but they just couldn't work out how to get him in it
IIRC, they had a scene in the script ready for him to do (a birthday message hologram that Ambassador Spock shows to nuSpock.) His non-appearance was due to factors other than deciding where to put him.

TrekMovie.com was leaked a scene from a source who said the scene was “written for Shatner but never shown to Shatner.” According to what I remember around the time, Shatner declined because he didn’t feel what they wanted to do was significant enough. And the story from TrekMovie, quotes Shatner as saying he “doesn’t do cameos.”

However, I will say, if it is the scene. I would have loved for it to have been included. It is indeed a birthday message that Spock Prime gives to the Kelvin Universe Spock during the hangar scene where he asks him to stay in Starfleet. The message would then have played over the closing scenes of Pike, Kirk and crew receiving awards and Chris Pine’s Kirk taking command of the Enterprise.

As [Pine’s] Kirk rejoins his crew for hugs and congratulations, we go to the BACK of the hangar… SPOCK PRIME. Watching. Moved beyond words. He turns and leaves them to it… as he goes…

KIRK/SHATNER (V.O.)
I know what you’d say — ‘It’s their turn now, Jim…’ And of course you’re right… but it got me thinking:

INT. STARFLEET HOSPITAL – EARTH – DAY

Our montage comes full circle as we END on Kirk’s transmission:

KIRK/SHATNER
“Who’s to say we can’t go one more round? By the last tally, only twenty five percent of the galaxy’s been chartered… I’d call that negligent. Criminal even — an invitation. You once said being a starship captain was my first, best destiny… if that’s true, then yours is to be by my side. If there’s any true logic to the universe… we’ll end up on that bridge again someday.”

Stops, grins. Because this is the part he needs to say most…

KIRK/SHATNER
“Admit it, Spock. For people like us, the journey itself… is home.”

Young Spock’s face. Lost in feelings that flood through him.

Yikes. Glad that was never done...

I don't know. I'm about as a shameless a TOS partisan as they come, but I figure Shatner's Kirk has already gotten TWO curtain calls already, in TUC and GEN. I'm not sure we need a third encore.
I dunno. Data got two curtain calls, as did Spock. Kirk's last appearance wasn't exactly popular. I think Terry could do it justice this time.

I need a scene where the characters board the NX-01 and start fiddling with the controls until they accidentally turn on the transporter, causing a very confused beagle to materialize on the platform.
There was a recent photo related to this... EDIT: rather, I thought it was recent, but seems to be from a decade ago. Dangit. My bad.

Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn and Scott Bakula having dinner at Sir Patrick's house. Are they working Captain Archer into the story? Perhaps as a hologram in the Federation Day celebrations?

Or it could just be a simple dinner get together.

Changelings alone shouldn't be able to do this, but it may be an easy task for Pah Wraiths living inside them ;)

I think they would have name dropped the Pah Wraiths by now.

I hope to see a Zhat Vash connection to the Changeling plot, two separate groups infiltrating Starfleet Command in so short time stretches it unless they knew of each other and worked together. Their interest in Jack is still a mystery, too. Could they be after the body of Locutus and his nanoprobe-infested son to fight against the Borg, a common threat?

Fundamentally if it were just about Nanoprobes, they would be after Seven and any other XB, possibly even Janeway, Torres, Tuvok, Chakotay — there’s a whole planet in the Delta Quadrant that was overlooked in S1.

It has to be the male equivalent of Royal Jelly Nanoprobes, as Locutus was set to be a mate for the Queen, and if it was just Royal Nano, Seven would possibly still do as she was lady-in-waiting being groomed to be a Queen.
Worth wondering if Picard remembers being at the conception, or if it was his changeling Doppie. Or if Crusher *is* a Changeling Doppie that self-identifies too hard with whom she replaced.
Safe money is on irumodic syndrome being a Locutus thing that was misidentified, that Q then used to do AGT. Or an evolution present in Picard and his children that allows the perception of alternate timelines in humans/humanoids. A step along the way to becoming Prophets.
Very Dune, so there is SF precedent.
Jack is the Kwisatz Haderach of Trek, cos his dad could see things that aren’t there, and his mother could… do other things with incorporeal things.

lol, I want a comedic series with both the Zhat Vash and the changelings infiltrating Starfleet command and both of the groups doing a lot of mistakes without being outed because in the end there are pretty much no real Starfleet officers.

I can see Lower Decks doing this. A starbase crewed entirely by Changelings, Zhat Vash, the Conspiracy bugs, Thomas Riker, officers brainwashed by the Ktarian Game, Mirror Universe counterparts, android counterparts from Exo III and who else, totally ignorant of each other.

I'm still a bit confused as to how Alton managed to load Data into the new android body. Where did he get that copy of Data FROM? The original of course died in Nemesis, and the 'copy' passed away in PIC season 1. Did he have a second backup of Data stored somewhere else?

And don't even get me started on Lal. She should have died with Data 1.0 in NEM as well.

Lore and B-4, I can understand, since their original bodies were intact. But I don't see where Alton could have gotten Data or Lal.

The copy in B-4s head. Basically the same place Maddox got his in Season 1.
