Agreed. Unless the third is the Lore part of DataLoreB4LalSoong. Or a resurrected flesh and blood Picard or Locutus. But still…

1) The Dominion War definitely was notover even at the time they got the replacement ship.

2) Given that O'Brien and the engineering staff assigned to the original deviant had been supporting and repairing said cloaking device for years before the ships destruction by the Breen, I'm sure the Federation had enough knowledge to rebuild a Romulan cloaking device and install it into the USS Sao Paulo Paulo themselves at whatever Federation Shipyard it was built at. (Hell, it's possible they could have put the Phase cloak from the USS Pegasus project, since the Federation found out that design worked.)

The purpose of the cloak being loaned by the Romulans was in exchange for intelligence when the Defiant went to the Gamma Quadrant, which the Federation never went back to once the war started. And since the Treaty of Algeron was still in effect at that time, and dialogue from Geordi seems to indicate it still is, the Romulans would have no reason to do another loan.

Same with O'Brien building a new one... the Treaty of Algeron.

That was an enjoyable episode, maybe one of the weaker of the season but they've all been great and every week can't be 10/10. I little less fan service might have helped, but given then we might not have seen Defiant so I'll let it slide. Geordi and Deanna and Data! (sort of) The gangs all here. Shaw didn't get much to do this week but guess we have way too many characters now for everyone to get their moment, I did like his quick chat with Geordi.

I don't get what Vadic's plan is. They've stolen Picard's dead body and they want Jack. Why? I've seen people suggesting that they want to weaponise Irumodic Syndrome but it isn't a virus it's a neurological condition, and surely Picard and Jack can't be the only people who have it, even if this was the goal? And if they have Picard's body why do they still need Jack? Unless Picard's body can't give them what they want?

Curiouser and curiouser.

Props to Spiner, the moment where he slipped back into playing Lore was chilling.

I need more Riker/Worf banter!

As I said in another thread, Matalas was clear that this season has three antagonists.

One is Vadic

Two is "skull dude."

Who is behind door #3?

I know but I am suspicious when they give random information before it airs - it's in their best interest to make us watch. So I wait and see what the show has.

Edit to address fireproof78 - the clip for next week sure looks a lot more like a skull...or a cardassian.

I'd love for it to somehow be Gul Dukat reborn, but that would make no sense - and it's basically upstaging the TNG swan song with more DS9 crap.

It's pretty clear he's not a changeling himself judging by what he says however.

I can see this being a Pah'Wraith. Not so much Dukat. Maybe that's wishful thinking on my part because watching him go off-the-rails for the final season-and-a-half was painful. Every time he was seen after "Waltz" made me cringe.

The red eyes that Jack had in the one episode really do make me wonder of the Pah-Wraiths are somehow involved. Which would of course be an excuse to bring Sisko back in as well.

I've thought about it being Dukat somehow communicating from within the Fire Caves he's been sentenced to, but man. They would have to think HARD to find a way to make that even remotely work.

It also has the effect of diminishing the narrative importance somewhat of Sisko's final action, but yeah.
