My current guess as of episode 6 is they want Picard's old body to use to summon the "real borg" so they can come at fleet day and wipe out the entire starfleet. And they will try to turn Jack into the new Locutus in order to do this.
but why would the changelings care about that?
None of those show abbreviations are standard lol. I have never seen anyone use STP or STLD. I’ve only seen PIC, LDS and LOW. and sometimes just ‘LD’.
The movie ones are fine.

Television is a much different entity than it was twenty-plus years ago when Voyager was on the air, and the "political climate" has nothing to do with it. Five seasons by the standards of modern day streaming services is considered extremely successful. A lot of streaming shows these day don't even get that much. Seriously, how many other streaming shows do you know of that even got five seasons? Not many.Voyager lasted 7 years and was tradional Trek, the fact STlasted only 5 seasons in a politcal climate that favored it is very telling.

No one is telling you your opinion but this is s discussion forum which means people will counter it and share they're own.
But, as far as hating a show, we'll, personally that's a waste of energy. I just don't watch TNG or VOY or ENT because I do not like them.
More than that, you have shows you do like. Maybe instead of focusing in what you don't like you focus on what you do?

This is a good idea, and if that's the plot it would be satisfying, but I must disagree that it's what it is. Matalas said the Borg play no role in Season 3. So unless he's actively lying, which we have no reason to believe is the case, it's not about the Borg.
The Borg idea is really good, especially since Matalas "redeemed" the Borg by saying the "real Borg are still out there" and dismissing Season 2's Borg as "weird shit". . But Matalas' said they aren't involved, so I'm going to take that at face value.
Picard Season 3, as amazing as it is, has been one big exercise in repairing problems with the franchise that go back man years.
-This new synth, the amalgamation of all the Soong-types in a human-positronic body is the best use of the Season 1 synth plot, and finally brings Data back in the single best way possible.
- Making Seven a commander fixes the stuff she did in Seasons 1 and 2.
- The way and the way they brought back Dr Crusher fixes the character's inexplicable absence in Season 1, considering this series takes place years later than the All Good Things Anti-Time Future (meaning: her absence particularly demanded explanation).
- The production approach, the starships, the credits, the cinemtography fix the look of the series and make it look like compared to the much more consistent with other TNG productions.
The list goes on and on. The series has been one big exercise in redemption. Even showing the original Connie, unchanged from TOS, showing and canonizing the refit NX-class (presumably NX-01?), showing Worf in the klingon makeup we know (which we all knew was going to happen) and the traditional ferengi makeup are all exercises in redemption. Redeeming retcons of Streaming trek by saying "it exists alongside" or "it is still canon", or tying up lose ends or fixing mistakes (the Klingon makeup, the Ferengi makeup). It's almost like the producers had a brainstorming session of "what unfinished business do we have from the Berman era shows, and how can we tie them up? And what things from the Streaming era need to be homogenized with classic-Trek?". Once they compiled the list, they resoved to fix them all.
Which is Why, getting back to your comment, I'm thinking that what they want with Picard's body is a similar deep cut. It's not going to be something new. It's going to be something old, maybe something broken, that will be used in a novel way
Not a single Trek series before Discovery was shorted to ST_. Series were either named after the first letters of their names following Star Trek (TOS, TNG, DS9) or the first three letters of their names (VOY, ENT).
I actually don't like that people use DSC - I strongly prefer DIS for Discovery. DSC makes no sense.
DSC is the official abbreviation, it's even used in-universe on the ship's shuttlecraft in the 23rd Century.
VGR is also the official abbreviation for VOY. Though I don't use it, because I didn't learn that until years later, no sense in changing then.

Surely this shows that there is still some demand for Star Trek? They might be able to do another show after all, it would be a shame for them to put the breaks on to the momentum that Picard season 3 seems to be gaining.
Surely Terry can have his spin-off/continuation now??
