Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

Daystrom looks like Jupiter station with additional stuff

And two MIDAS Arrays on the sides, just peaking in from off-frame. MIDAS is an interesting addition to the Jupiter Station-type space station, given the plot of the season, I wonder if we might not be making a phone call to one of the more distant quadrants.

Shields are displayed like in WoK

They seemed to split the difference, when the display rotated into a profile view, the shield display cross-faded into the gradient from TFF/TUC/NEM.

Wait a minute, does that say M-15? Coincidence, or is Starfleet going back to multitronics to match with their circular hulls and cool, deco pylons?

He'd have been slapped down by Fuller just like Eaves was.

The TOS aesthetic was a big NO-NO as far as Fuller was concerned.

Too bad Bryan didn't get pushed out sooner, we might have actually gotten a couple of round nacelles in the first season.

From what I understand, Fuller just wanted angular nacelles. He didn't say to make the ships completely unrecognizable from the TOS Enterprise.

He said to make the ships look nothing like the Enterprise?
I'm mainly talking about how he wanted the overall Era to look.
Which was specifically counter intuitive of what we saw in TOS.
Round nacelles was just one aspect of that he rejected.

You're harping on specifics seemingly to be argumentative.
(as usual)

Have fun with that.

Afaic both Eaves and Fuller are at fault. It ain't the first -or last- time on record that Eaves has drafted up stuff that looks entirely inappropriate for its era, and yes Fuller had to sign off on those godawful eyesores he came up with.

I remember Eaves mentioning that Fuller wanted him to use angular nacelles. He also used that excuse back during ENT when he designed the 22nd century Romulan Bird of Prey with Jem'Hadar nacelles. So considering his info is second-hand (since I've never read any statements by Fuller where he acknowledges this; someone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong), I tend to take what Eaves says with a grain of salt.

I'm sure someday some fan will edit all of Discovery scenes with more "era appropriate" designs and thus we will know...

?????

For the short time that Fuller was in charge, Eaves was working for him.
Fuller pushed Eaves in that design direction, not the other way around.

Eaves has indicated that he first along drew TOS comparable designs that were rejected by Fuller.

That's not "second hand" info.
