My point was that if there was such an independent power source and we buy either of the reasons given for running the holodeck on it, then why not life support as well? Life support trumps doctors and psychological comfort.

the holodeck is a localised system and a relatively small location, life support covers the whole ship and is probably quite energy hungry.
Also, it was not really necessary in this episode, but we’ve seen in the past that’s totally possibile to cut life support only in certain decks.

Could be very dramatic if there aren’t enough for everyone and Shaw has to relive his trauma.

Windows are not inherently weaker in a ship. If the shields fail you are roundly screwed, window or no window.

I just noticed Mura (the Bajoran officer) is wearing his earring on his left ear, not his right. I think Ro was the only other Bajoran to do that that wasn't a Pah Wraith cultist (their earrings were bright red tho).

So if Mura is a pah-wraith cultist, is he protected under a Federation freedom of religion law or is Shaw going to give him the Picard lecture to the Mintakan lecture about how religion is superstition and Mura should follow science?

I know they said the holodeck power excuse came from Voyager but I don't think it would've been too hard to redress the Earth Ten Forward set into an actual bar on board the ship (and wasn't there a TNG Ten Forward set hastily constructed or CGI'd for the series premiere?)

Also, as noted many times in regards to other similar episodes, shuttles have their own warp core and power yet no one in this episode or any other ever talks about the feasibility or implausibility of getting power from them. Where's that radioactive room that only showed up in Wrath of Khan and Into Darkness that magically restores power upon a crewmember sacrifice?

Your link reminded me how funny it is seeing Riker in All Good Things look much older in 2395 than he does in 2401. He either aged faster in the AGT timeline or underwent Chancellor Palpatine syndrome where he looked younger at the end of the Clone Wars than he did at the start.

Were people so fragile over swearing in 1986 when The Transformers movie came out? And if you can get away with an occasional swear word in an animated movie aimed at teenagers in 1986, I fail to see why people clutch their pearls so tightly over occasional swearing in Star Trek in 2023.

Trek always had more stringent standards. Nick Meyer has reported getting a lot of criticism for the "No smoking" sign he has in Star Trek 2, back in 1982.

Trek is treated as different, more special, and exists in a sacred space for many. To corrupt it with base language is viewed negatively.

Those people need to stop taking their silly little Sci-Fi show too seriously. I mean, I love Star Trek more than just about anything, but to consider it "sacred" is obsessive and unhealthy. Just say no to cult mentality.
