Is Titan-A a refit of original Titan?

I consider a new motherboard to be a ‘new computer.’ Even if it has my old drive, video card and RAM, it’s not my old computer.
And Shaw purged the Titan computer of Riker's music, so if the ship has the computer core and pieces like the nacelles, then it's gotta be the "same" ship. But I don't think we'll all agree on this. Dave Blass posted some more about the issue and how components get recycled because of the Mars attack. And it makes sense to reuse stuff. But YMMV.

Well, no, it’s not the same ship. It’s a completely different ship with the same computer core. Just like my analogy about how my new motherboard and tower with my old HD is my new computer, not my old computer. It’s not the Luna class Titan rebuilt into the Connie III Titan.

Because Riker.

Riker had nothing to do with the ‘refit’ of the Titan.

Act like Utopia Planitia is the be all and end all of star ship construction.. Ah No. That would be stupid because someone could do what it seems the synths did.. cripple starship construction and repair. There are literally HUNDREDS of docks scattered around the federation.

How do explain the copy pasta fleet in season 1?? 200 NEW ships of 500 meter plus variety.

And by that reasoning, they would have Fixed the Enterprise E and the Luna Titan instead of decommisoning it or "refiting" it.

No where would I accuse Starfleet, Star Trek's writers, or producers of being consistent except in their love of something new.

How do we know that at the end of its service life, Riker's Titan looked like we're familiar with? Is it possible that by its retirement, it had been retrofitted with newer nacelles that then got recycled onto the new Titan? And given their roughly similar general shapes, what's the possibility that the secondary hull was swapped and modded to fit the new Titan?

All abolsutely possible.

Utopia was the biggest.

Damn. Mr Blass is almost making Twitter sound worth it. I actually agree with him. Because he is freaking right about the Inquiry class and that fleet. Can't find the article now but I recall defending the decision and seeing a Navy Captain offer a similar opinion that it would make sense from an emergency response standpoint.

Thank you, Tuskin!

Twisting into a pretzel to make there version of things real.
Could do like the Titan A and use the same nacelles on different hulls.

And the pic he posted proves it Is Not a refit.

Yes. That's usually how fiction works. Bending reality. Mileage will vary at it's effectiveness, though the longer I'm on the internet the more I'm convinced TOS would have not lasted and become the classic it was if the internet had been around.

So what Star Trek creators have been doing since the franchise started.
I know, Tale old as time, but still irritating that they have to do gymnastics to prove there point, when they generally didn't have to.

Would have taken less material to fix the Luna Titan. and doesn't seem like much more than what the Enterprise E went through in Nemisis. From what I see.. did they let Deanna drive again??

If what Dave said is true, I would expected that the Titan A have the same nacelles as the Luna if there going to recycle it, not the Stargazzer nacelles. There not even the same shape/size. how can you reuse the coils if they don't fit??

You'd have more of a "Franken Fleet" like from DS9 using parts of ships like the Saucer of an excelsior or nacelles of a Miranda, etc.
