Early Review of Picard Season 3

Which is his expected job and responsibility. The success of the show should still be to his credit for sure.

Which is odd. The only way I see that happening is if it is less successful, or if Terry becomes more busy with other work. "You'e so successful; you're fired." I mean, that's what my boss told me at our last meeting but that's not common...:shifty:
Unfortunately the entertainment industry isn't exactly known for having rational actors...

Welcome to humanity. If I want rationality I would go to Mars.

But, honestly, even if Terry isn't asked back and Season 3 is amazing isn't that good enough?

The opportunity cost of what could have been, especially if for many fans season 3 proves to be the first "real Star Trek" we've seen in decades.

So I'm rewatching Disco at the moment.

I know I'm picking an individual episode here but season 3 ep 8 is about as Trek as you can get.

Big bad threatens planet. Character who has doubted themselves manages to overcome their own fear, and convince a dubious potential ally to help defeat big bad.

At the same two, two people who are similar but one has gone astray reconcile and use the power of empathy to communicate with some creatures that seem like trouble but actually can live in harmony.

Couldn't get more Trek if it tried

Anyone who seriously thinks that we haven't seen "real Star Trek" in decades has such an utterly absurd and arbitrary definition of what Star Trek is that they do not warrant listening to.
To be fair, I'd argue PRODIGY, parts of LOWER DECKS, and elements of PICARD season 2 come close.

I was taking the "Real Trek" concept as per the various YouTubers and making the point that Disco had plenty of "real Trek"
Agreed. And I think it allows for greater exploration of Star Trek. It reminds me of the Nimoy quote around that natural curiosity, and "Where does Star Trek want to take me today" rather than "how can I explore Trek's history again?"

If I'm understanding what I'm reading correctly, Kurtsman is the Rick Berman to DS9 now, just writing the bills and making CBS happy. Matalas is the direct Showrunner to Picard. Who is the Showrunner for Discovery and Strange New World if it is not Kurtzman?

I think that is the case and Matalas is the new Manny Coto and depending on quality maybe even the next Ron Moore. The guy Trek fans really want to be allowed lots of freedom to do a Trek show they want to do.

He’s been co-showrunner on Discovery with Michelle Paradise since season 3.

SNW’s showrunners are Henry Alonso Myers and Akiva Goldsman

Alex wasn’t showrunner for any season of Picard.

Ron Moore has never been showrunner if a Trek show.

I believe Michelle Paradise has been sole
Showrunner of discovery since season 3. She was co-show runner with kurtzman during the back half of season 2.

Terry and akiva were co show runners during Picard season 2

There is no such thing as real trek, only goalposts that certain fans keep moving. I am old enough to remember times when TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT were considered 'not real star trek'.

First "real Trek" in decades...hm I'don agree while we have Lower Decks, Prodigy and Strange New Worlds. They are "real Trek" as well. Only Discovery is non-Trek garbage. Everyone knows that.
