Colm isn't "most actors" and has bloody steady work. Considering the variety and range Meany does bring to screen, I think he's probably one of the actors that might even resent a tiny bit that where a lot of people know him from is wearing some silly jumpsuit. Even if it does give him a sense of "immortality" as an actor to a relatively small audience group.

8 differernt TV shows Including all 51 episodes of Hell on Wheels (and was nominted twice) multiple episodes on other shows and a recurring role in The Serpent Queen.

He managed to break into america and star in a number of TV shows and movies some 6 years before being cast in his (relative bit part) in TNG. He apparently, like Micheal Dorn, nearly didn't go back for DS9 until it was revealed to him he'd be a main cast member and it thus represent nice, steady work.

Indeed. Meaney has never been out of work. He just tends to land side-roles rather than the main part. He crops up everywhere as a result of that, though.

He's an old school actor who seems to have the same attitude as Michael Caine, just always doing some sort of work every year. He's had two good long show runs under his belt though, DS9 and Hell on Wheels being the main two which spring to mind, even now he's a recurring actor on The Spider Queen
