I apologize if this sounds like a silly question but...will Miles O'Brien be involved in any way in Season 3?

I mean, they're bringing back pretty much everyone else...it's only right that O'Brien is invited as well, amirite?

Probably not. He is largely considered a DS9 character. Plus, he got demoted in TNG so there's that too...

I hope PIC brings back O'Brien. He's one of the characters I can relate to the most. Just a regular guy doing his job.

I also love the fact that O'Brien is an enlisted man, and proud of it. No reason why the officers should get ALL the glory!

Terry said there would be characters from other series as well, not all the returning ones are from TNG.

And while O'Brien did get most of his character development on DS9, he spent a great deal of time on TNG too, so IMHO that shouldn't be ignored.

After Worf, O'Brien's got more screen time than any other Trek character. So it's definitely something I'd like to see.

I think Colm Meaney said that he was done with spacesuits.
    That doesn’t mean anything though.

That sounds odd. Colm always said how much he enjoyed playing O'Brien and how the DS9 people always were willing to give him time off if he had a movie he was working on. So I don't think he'd walk away now.

I suppose O'Brien could have retired from Starfleet, though...

I think Matalas has said Chief O’Brien isnt one of the returning characters.

I suppose Molly, Yoshi or Keiko could though.

Molly and Yoshi should be old enough now to be in Starfleet :D

Personally, I hope we don't see him...or several others.
I'd prefer some characters just get to "ride off into the sunset" instead of getting dragged out one more time. Like how Kirk's last hurrah arguably should have been Star Trek 6 instead of Generations.

"Where are they now?" has been relatively kind to some characters but far from it to others.

Yup. Let them have unknown adventures. Mythology is not kind to heroes who keep coming back as they age.

O'Brien goes on to become the most important person in Starfleet history, so maybe they show some of that.

You know how they let Maury Ginsberg use his actual name on the show? They totally should have done that with Biff Yeager.

I figure if so many people want Brian Brophy back, at least an equal number of people want Biff Yeager back. I know I do.

And you’re right about his name. The only name I can think of that’s better is Max Power.

I'd love to have Picard visit the Academy where Miles is still teaching and is now the head of the Engineering Dept., and Keiko has joined him as the head of the Xeno-Botany Dept. where she was also given the opportunity to redesign the Academy grounds to reflect all the worlds of the Federation.

Now that Boothby has passed and the O'Briens are empty-nesters with Molly and Yoshi and any other kids off doing their own things, Keiko and Miles walk the grounds she designed every day to check on things and have a picnic lunch. Together, they have become the de facto new Boothby for the cadets, dispensing homespun wisdom, advice, and anecdotes, since the new groundskeeper has a bit of a standoffish personality.

Talking to the cadets also allows them to live vicariously as if they were hanging out with their kids. They still talk and visit with them as often as they can, but with their distant postings it can be difficult, so talking with the cadets helps them cope with missing their kids.

So what's prevent Colm Meaney from return as Chief O'Brien again today? It seems that he still active in his job as an actor.
