Early Review of Picard Season 3

I'm not convinced a lot of these people ever really liked Star Trek but just want to be upset or angry about everything and have nothing better to do at this point.
I feel this is on point. Anger drives a lot of behavior and makes it so people feel in control of those things outside of their control.

Some of his points make no sense. He complains the show isn't like TNG but then insults the writers for having "memberberry" callbacks to the older shows. Wouldn't making a show just like TNG be the ultimate memberberry?
Because, ultimately, they don't want a show like TNG. They want TNG back exactly the same, unaltered without question. A similar attitude can be found in people who have "dream spouses or partners" and struggle when those people inevitably change.

I don't think these youtubers who pile hate on new Trek shows really hate it. At least not as much as they say they do. They just need to say something that gets people to click on their video. More people will do that if you say you hate it. You'll get people who don't like it, reinforcing their view, and those who disagree who want to see why you hate the show they like.
Not many people will click on a video that says "Star Trek Picard. It's not really for me, but you might like it".
It's all about getting the number of views as high as possible to maximise their channel. Say something contentious or even ridiculous so people will click on it and you get another view. The more views you get the more income you can generate.

"Doomcock" showed up as a suggested tweet so checked out its feed. That person seems to be having a meltdown that Robert and others are enjoying the new season. And yes, that is one of the people who say they will hate all new Trek no matter what and also insults people that like the new shows. He's one of the people I've seen over the years that wants the shows to fail so bad and encourages people not to watch. 1) I don't understand why they don't just move on with their lives at this point. Star Trek (2009) came out almost 14 years ago now..and they are still on twitter crying over the same stuff. That person isn't the only one. I just can't imagine screaming about a franchise I don't like on twitter for 14 years. It's insane. 2) I'm not convinced a lot of these people ever really liked Star Trek but just want to be upset or angry about everything and have nothing better to do at this point. 3) Some of his points make no sense. He's so over-the-top that I question whether or not he's actually a fan at all, or only found something he can make money off of. He figured out which pieces of Star Trek would match Star Wars, plugged in XYZ, and went from there.

TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY = OT Star Wars
ENT = Prequel SW (hated in the '00s, accepted now)
Abrams / Kurtzman Trek = Disney Star Wars

And he rigidly sticks to that paradigm.

This is it right here. Hate is profitable and people like RMB and Critical drinker have spent the last few years fanning the flames to make coin. I don't think any of these people really believe half of the bigoted shit they say, but they are absolutely reprehensible for making their content aimed at people who do hate modern trek because of bigotry.

RMB changing his tune has me skeptical about the reasons why. It wouldn't surprise me if we get an announcement post-picard that he's been hired in some capacity for a project related to Modern Trek.

There may be something to that. He saw the whole season months ago before everything was even finished. How?

I doubt it. He still actively hates the other shows and previous Picard seasons.

He also seems to have seen the season without Paramount concent.

Diktor von Doomcock
No one here gives a fuck what he thinks.

His long-form overview of Eisenstein, Pudovkin, Vertov and early Soviet cinema was boldly incisive but I noticed his review of Aquaman seemed to be overly fraught with sociopolitical grievances. I'm not 100% convinced he's 100% on the level.

Update: He's now claiming only "cucks, simps, or shills would ever prostrate themselves to the infernal ignominy that is Pukehard, retched by goblins who only wish to laugh at our tears."

It's still not clear that he's seen any episodes though.

RMB's first run at PICARD season 3 happened before SNW season 1 was even finished airing. He's been open about having the ability to view many shows and films while they're in post production (and also has access to scripts, like the MCU Secret Wars). But he's still blocked from Paramount+'s Twitter account, and apparently his RSVP to the PICARD season 3 premiere was declined.

And, he doesn't hate everything else. He likes parts of STLD, and said PRODIGY was great, just that both are limited in impact by being animated.

I think these YouTubers, like Doomcock, should get real jobs. First, a name like that sounds shameless. Second, how embarrassing must it be to say, "I trash sci-fi and fantasy franchises for a living!" That's like saying, "I'm Comic Book Guy for a living!".

His parents must be so proud he's such a "productive" member of society.

But, back on topic, I'm looking forward to all the serious reviews.

How about we watch the show and try to form our own opinions of it rather than letting YouTube idiots tell us what we should and should not like? At the very least, it keeps us unbiased going in.

I don’t know…..just a thought.

Never was a fan of Meyer Burnett, he never appears sincere and is always agenda driven. I think he's a blow hard and has no credibility, so I'm gonna watch PICARD with an open mind and just enjoy it. It's been my mindset ever since season 1; I'm watching this regardless what RMB thinks. I just don't care what he thinks, positively or whatever.

For all 6 episodes?
I can't see the length of the videos or descriptions. Another thing to keep in mind, the channels that cover lore will have weeks to prepare their content covering what Star Trek history is being revisited. The Popcast guys are banking an interview with Todd Stashwick. Should make for an immersive ten weeks!

Also, something very very spoiler-y is apparently in episode 5. I'd open reviews with caution.

I just think it doesn't make sense to lift the embargo for 6 episodes after not even the first has been released
