I really hope he's joking here, but you be the judge... https://twitter.com/TerryMatalas/status/1620444817443663875
My observations and thoughts of what might happen this season: 1. Will Riker will die midway through the series. The scene with him and Picard where he says 'this is the end my friend' is Picard seeing him in a dream sequence. 2. Riker is the ONLY one looking 'over his shoulder' to his LEFT in the poster whereas the rest are to the right or forward. This also is another clue to his fate in the upcoming season. For those who remember Lost, this was the similar for Terry O' Quinns character to make him stand out as the 'outcast' (he faced the island for his connection to the island and the rest of the cast faced forward with a view to leaving, metaphorically speaking) 2. Shots of the Ent-F with the fleet are from the final episode as we get a few final hero shots of the 'saviour fleet' as they... 3....no doubt coming in firing in the episode prior when all seems lost 4. Amanda Plummer and henchmen are guns for hire by an enemy (who was fomerly an ally from a previous iteration of Trek, no idea who). 5. Picards supposed son IS his son (just because the writers are so derivative tend to play the obvious rather than false flag as we've seen in DSC, PIC and SNW). 6. Moriarty is sent in to reign in/debagte with 'Lore' in the holodeck, who isn't actually Lore but a younger Dr Soong as Moriarty postulates. 7. Troi has some sort of a mind meld into RIkers mind after he is comatose/dead. (unlikeliest) 8. Geordi is the commander/captain of the Ent-F. 9. Beverley isn't Beverley in the communication (it's an imposter). 10. Scene with Riker with a gun to his head is the scene we first meet Picards supposed son 11. Geordi is the Captain Sulu (as in UC) and comes to the rescue when he had reservations about helping in the first place. I'll be playing bingo with this post to see how many I get right...or wrong
Spoiler but Frakes returns as Tom? I like the idea of LaForge having the new Enterprise as his flagship
True but let's be honest, this is a theme that's running through the rest of the shows at the moment as well. Seem to be writing for general happy clappy audiences who don't necessarily have a big trek knowledge, not trek fans who like a bit of a complex spin on things.
That's an interesting one, although I would hope they would leave the clone idea out of it , esp as this has a Nemesis feel to it and would feel a bit sameish
Yes, because that's how they stay on the air is by appealing to a larger audience. I like my Trek knowledge too but that's not how writers approach things. They approach it from the point of view of "What story do I want to tell in this world and how can I appeal to a large audience?" Trek writers do not have encyclopedic knowledge.
Gates McFadden is one of three actors (Including Micheal Dorn and Frakes if I remember right) who've all said outright it's not the end for their characters.
Ok, so if I am reading right, I can also make a second post? I realised my mistake and obviously still in "baby/prove not in spambot jail" (totally understand why considering the helpful messages) so would edit, but kind of hamstrung by the system. Worf is confirmed as/was the Captain of the Enterprise-F from this handy dandy article: https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/star-trek-picard-season-3-enterprise-f/ So yeah, Captain Worf, son of Mogh of the House of Martok.
Yeah, Marina Sirtis says she wants to do more also and a lot of people seem to think she's dying, so I wouldn't trust most of the actors and what they say till the show airs.
Or Vadic is Picard's long lost sister...you know there's going to not just be a vendetta but some bloodline connection
A wise approach. They’re marketing their show and drumming up hype. They’re under contract to do so. The last thing they will do is say “oh by the way, my character dies, what a bummer, eh”. I would pay more attention to Terry Matalas than the cast themselves here, they’re too professional by now to slip up. Matalas tho? He’s so excited that he just can’t seem to help himself with the spoilers. He’s let it slip on several occasions now that “not all of the characters might make it out alive”. And, more importantly, he has explicitly said that “one or two” of those TNG cast members who have been vocal about wanting to do more Trek “might have been projecting” themselves onto the fact that Spock came back from the dead in a sequel movie after his death. What he essentially meant was “their character dies but eh I guess they know that this is Star Trek and they can always return”. He has also said that there are always ways to bring someone back in science fiction. The only (admittedly non-TNG) characters I would deem safe at this point are Seven and Raffi because Matalas said a while ago that they survive (this was when a small “no more bury your gays, ffs” controversy arose about a flippant remark he had made). So, really, none of what the actors have been saying rules out that their character dies. It simply means that (in Sir Patrick’s words) “we left a few doors open” and that the cast would be willing to walk through those doors and return/continue in whichever way if needed.
