Once the Federation is formed, the NX-01 is refit and recommissioned (with the engineering section) to become the NX-01 Dauntless, an experimental propulsion testbed, while the Enterprise name is retired out of respect for nearly a century. The Dauntless goes on to a worthy career of its own, which inspires the NX-01-A experimental propulsion testbed two centuries and change later.

    NX-01 Enterprise > Dauntless
    NCC-02 Columbia
    NCC-03 Challenger
    NCC-04 Discovery
    NCC-05 Atlantis
    NCC-06 Endeavour
    NCC-07 Pathfinder
    NCC-08 Buran
(Naming scheme switches from Space Shuttles to WWII Allied fighter/bombers & dive/torpedo bombers. Dauntless fits this scheme, as does the MU NX-09 Avenger, which possibly had a Prime Un. counterpart, like the others)
    NCC-09 Avenger
    NCC-10 Swordfish
    ... Continues

I have what may be a controversial opinion.

I want just one series in the franchise to NOT use time travel. AT ALL.

I know it's a common scifi trope and it's been present in the franchise almost since the very beginning, but it's been done to death. Plus, it is damn near impossible to do a time travel story where all the threads are resolved well.

It just opens up too many cans of worms.

Whether it's a 5 season show or a 1 season show, I would just like time travel be banned from a series. Just once.

Enterprise would have been a good series for that... we'd have lost "Twilight", but no Temporal Cold War would compensate. No one talks about the Federation until there is a Federation.

I absolutely HATED the Temporal Cold War. If that had not been part of the pilot, I would put ENT's pilot as the best of the franchise, even ahead of VGR's.

The TCW did nothing and went nowhere. It held the show back so much that the first thing Manny Coto did when he took over the series was end it with the "STORM FRONT" two-parter.

I mean, technically there is a Trek series without time travel, but it's Short Treks.

The premise of the interspatial parasites is interesting, but what drags down "Twilight" for me is that the story doesn't have many moving parts besides the tired old cliché of people in one timeline sacrificing themselves for the sake of possible versions of themselves in another.* "Endgame," "The Visitor," and "Yesterday's Enterprise" also suffered from the cliché. It represents a degree of altruism far beyond what's realistic.

As corny as it came across, at least the long-bearded Riker in "Parallels" behaved more believably when he refused to go back to the hellscape that was his own universe and fired on the shuttlecraft.

    * - Sure, they set up pushing the self-destruct button by making their situation pretty much hopeless, but being presented with the choice in the face of a hopeless situation is one of the primary flavors that the cliché comes in.

Lower Decks hasn’t used time travel yet have they? I mean, they are getting ready to. But still…abstaining for 3 years is pretty good.

I don’t mind time travel if the story is good. Like “City on the Edge…”, “Past Tense” or yes…”Twilight.”

They have not and wdym 'getting ready to'? Here's hoping they never do. I like the little nods to lore like Branstom looking over 'those old scientists' but I hope they never actually, ya know, go back in time.

This would have to be so much worse to be worse than The Alternative Factor. But both of them are leagues worse than Spock's Brain. Spock's Brain isn't that bad.

Code of Honor should have been played by the cast of Justice. Then no one would have batted an eye.

    This.

TOS is my favorite Trek series by a mile but seriously, this episode is 90% misfires,7% cool optical effects and 3% "Hey, let's give Jack Ruby's defense attorney a supporting role for some reason."

there's the upcoming crossover with SNW. But I suppose you could say technically LD would be clean since the crossover is happening on SNW.

Calypso is just a one off, cool mysterious thing they’re not really gonna try to explain or connect to, right?

you must be new here, lol

(on a serious note, I actually agree with you, but both the larger fandom and almost every show to date can’t resist connecting the dots at some point, unfortunately)

It was announced last year at one of the comic-cons. Not really a spoiler.

They keep saying they want to. They're already got the computer becoming sentient and using the same name.

They did technically do a time travel story, on the holodeck.
