With Jemma Redgrave returning I think a UNIT series with her and Ruth Madeley would be most likely.

Though, the one thing I really want is a proper, full length 8th Doctor special with Paul and Nicola Walker.

Well it would make a change with the BBC/the mouse having to negotiate with BF for rights to use a character but I suspect as Liv was created for the audio range they wouldn't want a character that they don't 100% control/own/have rights to.

That's assuming they'd countenance going to back to the 8th Doctor.

Paul McGann seems happy doing the audios but no idea how open he is to returning to the role on the tv.

Not a complete list. In addition to the Paternoster Gang, there is also Temporary Secretary starring the best temp in Chiswick, DC Khan, a hard hitting crime show, set on the mean streets of Sheffield and Coal Hill a teen drama set in the 1960s.

We joke, but we've all seen what Disney has accomplished with Star Wars. Beyond the sequel trilogy, they have expanded the IP and have built on the industry it already was, to varying levels of success.

Beyond spin-offs, which I'm sure are already in development, there will be surge of merch we can't imagine. Doctor Who stuff will be anywhere Disney sells. There will be Mickey Mouse collectable pins with him dressed as various Doctors, popping out of the TARDIS. I actually think that will look cool, but I digress...

What the overall affect on Doctor Who as a whole will be, I cannot say. But it will be interesting to see what they do with it.

Spinoffs are a near certainty. Certainly, RTD has talked about them and wanting to run an empire. Disney+ would obviously favor more content. The only way spinoffs don't happen is if the main show flops before they're made.

A UNIT spinoff seems likely. Also, a modern companion's league show. Although, those two could be one and the same.

Another thing I wonder about is whether there'd be interesting one offs. That could be an anthology series set in the Whoniverse or just individual features. That way you could get an 8th Doctor story without having an entire series. Not that I'd mind an entire series, but they're unlikely to have two series running with two different Doctors.

I'm not sure that mouse would go for a Paternost Gang series without a retooling of the relationship between Jenny and Vastra.

We joke, but we've all seen what Disney has accomplished with Star Wars. Beyond the sequel trilogy, they have expanded the IP and have built on the industry it already was, to varying levels of success.

I think all of the Star Wars shows have been good to great. The question is can Doctor Who can bring in a Dave Filoini or Jon Favreau type who is really devoted to the lore and is a talented writer.

I see Davies overseeing the whole thing, but I don't think he'll stretch himself so far again, especially after Torchwood and Sarah-Jane Adventures. I think he burned himself out quickly and was one of the reasons why he left when he did. I'm ready to stand corrected on that point since I haven't read The Writer's Tale but I seem to recall that nugget from somewhere.

Hard disagree. We can still get most of those to work as long those shows can bring a strong enough hook outside what we fans already know and love. Other shows and films have accomplished that feat and I don't see no reason that can't happen here, with the right writers.

No, I don't think that's true. The adventures of regular humans on modern Earth will work even if some viewers don't recognize them as former companions. Or, they'll understand a special military force (UNIT) even if they haven't seen them before. Even the ideas of stories about past Doctors should work fine.

That's why my suggestions were mostly plays on standard TV formats: Mystery, espionage, sitcom, crime etcetera

Why not? Disney seems more open to LGBTQ characters, these days.

One of the charming ways that fandom has overreacted to the Disney+ deal is by acting as though Disney+ is the Disney Channel circa 1999, rather than a streaming service that has plenty of all ages and even adult content on it, including, just as a random example as I scroll through, Love, Victor and the two Deadpool movies.
