There's a bunch of different ways to approach it. A narrative framing device with everything told in flashbacks (which is what all of star wars is anyway depending on how literally one takes the opening card to all the movies), a stroll through the world between worlds is another way to go (the imagery of it is all over the show's logo so they're clearing doing something with it), as is force visions, in-narrative flashbacks, and of course the good old fashioned dream sequence.

One has to wonder though; exactly what are the essentials that a fresh uninitiated audience *needs* to know about Ahsoka? Not every detail needs to be covered after all. I mean at this point in her story do they need to know about 'Fulcrum'?
I guess beyond her being 1) Anakin's padawan in the Clone Wars who 2) left the order before Order 66; the only point they might need to directly explain is where she was during the OT. Which is handy because that's ground that hasn't been covered yet at all, so it won't feel redundant to those who are already up to date.
I feel like a bigger hurdle is going to be catching everyone up on who Ezra is any why they should care (though I suspect that'll be done more through Sabine's eyes than Ahsoka's.)

I want a scene with Luke and Ahsoka talking about Anakin in anything, I don't care what format. TV show or Book/Comic.

Dave Filoni says he has a story in mind but isn't ready to tell it yet.

One would hope 'Tales of the Jedi' provides the ideal outlet for this and other such stories that have been sitting on the shelf for a while. See also: Ahsoka's walkabout under the Jedi Temple and near miss with Sidious. The Ahsoka Latrans/Plo Koon origin story. Whatever the hell happened to Barris. The story behind the 'Presence' Sith Lord responsible for what happened on Malachor etc.

Ahsoka: "I am Ahsoka Tano, former Jedi, former Rebel agent. Now I hunt for a dangerous Imperial admiral named Thrawn."

Sabine (looking at the mural): Ezra, how I've missed you. It's been (insert years) since you jumped to hyperspace with Thrawn. Now, after all this time, we might finally have the answer."

Cute, but Filloni isn't that blunt or clumsy of a storyteller.
However he approaches it, it'll be told in visuals more than dialogue. Imagery and symbols have always been his preferred tools. I mean the man is an artist after all.

I strongly suspect that this will play into a version of the original Thrawn trilogy story.

Of course, this time around Thrawn doesn't get killed by Rukh.

Winstead has been rumored to be playing Hera for awhile now, but this is the first time I've heard any rumors that Mikkelsen would actually return. I've been hoping and praying it would happen but I hadn't heard a peep about it might actually happen.

I wonder if Rex will show up. I liked how they teamed up in the final Clone Wars episode. You already have the actor around for his show.

Rebels' Thrawn was closer to how he was portrayed the first 3 EU Thrawn novels than how he was in later novels and even the canon Thrawn novels. Ruthless serving the empire without question, not caring much about underlings, firing on or threatening civilians. While the later EU Thrawn novels and the canon Thrawn novels have him acting for the greater good (at least the greater good of the Chiss), being more heroic-ish.

Zahn tried to, idk humanize him?

Bespin Bulletin claims to have seen an image of Lars on set from a source that doesn't want it shown.

I think Zahn just started to get overly attached to him.

That's the thing though; the line between "uninformed speculation" and "rumour" has gotten so blurry that we're at the point that because some random fansite with zero entertainment industry credentials says they have a source, all of a sudden there's dozens of other outlets making post with words like "breaking" and "exclusive" in all caps just so everyone knows it's totally legit and not even more click-bait.

So far as I can tell, this is just more click-bait dressed up to look like leaks and insider news. It's a rather devious breed of click-bait since in preys on a double whammy of inbuilt fan confirmation bias, and things that are fairly easy to guess at.

Personally, I don't count anything as "rumour" until I see it repeated by actual industry insiders. I mean come on people; do we seriously think some niche fansite is going to scoop a genuine leak from a LF production ahead of the big boys? They don't have the clout, they don't have the access, and no low level contractor attached to production would be stupid enough to violate a Disney NDA to the likes of them. People will get fired, contracts will be voided, and companies will be backlisted. So not even remotely worth the risk.

Yup, you're absolutely right. I'm still in the "begging and praying" stage and not in the "I believe it might be true" stage.

Lucky/semi-educated guesses do not a good track record make.

It's entirely possible. Then again it's also entirely possible that Thrawn won't even show up in person until Mandlorian Season 4, and the closest we get is Captain Pellaeon played by Ray Stevenson. Yet another possibility is that Ivanna Sakhno is playing Ventress in some flashbacks to the Clone Wars. See, anyone can make semi-educated guesses!
If I turn out to be right, does that mean you'll all have to treat any future guesses I make as authoritive? Is that how this works now? ;)
