The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Is that necessarily true? I would think he could be syndicated (ala Dave Ramsey or some of the conservative talk show hosts who are still out there) or on satellite radio (ala Howard Stern).
I still listen to radio, talk and other kinds. In other news, I want those kids off my lawn.

The president of CBS is stepping down after 5-1/2 years. The next president should be announcing NCIS: Anchorage, FBI: Cyber, CSI: Boston, The A-Team, Simon and Simon, Hardcastle and McCormick, Airwolf, Matlock, and Hunter soon.

NCIS: Anchorage would actually be a solid idea. Lots of military and shady stuff happens in Alaska.

They were and might still be. Not sure about the progress but here is this.

I don't see how this works without the star power of Reynolds, Field and Gleason, if at all. As the sequels tended to demonstrate "Smokey" was one of those concepts that was best as a "one and done"

Every year the Sunlight Killer strikes during sweeps. He kills during that time of year when the sun doesn't go down for a month or something.

Its almost half a year. The sun goes down to about the horizon and the comes right back up. I've played Softball at 3am during the summer in Alaska.

Ok... So I was all ready to hate this when they initially announced it, but I gotta say, the trailer has me interested in this.
Most of the original cast is back and there are elements of the original source material ("In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash"), so I'm definitely checking this out. They could have done better with the title, for sure, but still...

Just saw it. It was boring crap with zero charm from the original film.

I have it on now. I'm not hating it. I laughed at the bit with carolers. I'm missing Melinda Dillon as the mom, but Julie Hagerty is doing a good job. I agree that it lacks some of the charm of the original, but the nostalgia is strong with this one.

Editing this upon completing my watch. Nice to see they got more than just most of the main cast to reappear. I'll have to check IMDB but I'm pretty sure the Santa's elves were the same actors and I think Scut's buddy was the same.

By the end of the movie, I was definitely feeling the feels. Yes, it had a bit of a "Hallmark" Christmas movie, but I think that's because the focus was on the adults this time, rather than the kids.

I thought Billingsly really did a nice job narrating. He was definitely channeling Jean Shepard.

It won't replace the original, but I'll definitely watch it again.
