DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

This is the guy who thinks the plural of "Batman" is "Batmans". How much does he get paid as CEO?
Unless we are getting a filmed title "The Batmen" I am pretty sure that while awkward, his statement would help avoid confusion in this specific instance.

Regardless, his finances are tied to job performance. Might ask WB about that? :D

Is it cruel to point out that Black Panther has already made more money than Black Adam? Guess Dwayne wasn't the future of the DCU after all.

Huge fan of both Supergirl and the Legion, but unfortunately not much of a fan of DC's direct-to-video animated movies, so will be giving this a pass. :(

I really like LoSH, but the direct to DVD movies haven't been consistently good in awhile, and the new connected universe, which this seems to be a part of has been generally mediocre, and the artstyle is just terrible. I'll watch it if/when it shows up on HBO Max, but thats it. If it had been made a few years ago it would have been a must buy. As it is, at least we got Justice League vs Fatal Five a few years ago (which was the DCAU Justice League crossing over with the LoSH and a few different heroes), which was pretty good.

WB Animation: "Hey, can we do a Legion of Super-Heroes film?"
WB Exec: "Well, okay, but be sure to have a scene with Batman in it so we can put him in the trailer."

Nah, not cruel, you should just do it here https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/dccu-vs-mcu-discussion-thread.311506/
That way you aren't just generally trying to make people angry.

It was yawn inducing more than anger inducing

Also, I might pick that movie up. Been thinking about “my” Legion….. well “Legions” lately and getting nostalgic for them. The first Legion stories I read were mid-70’s Grell era. Both his art and that Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes” logo just wowed me. Both never fail to make me feel like a kid again. The next Legion that has a special place in my heart is the 81-83 Giffen era run. Before his new style.

I started collecting, as I seemed to have done with many classic storylines. several issues before the The Great Darkness prologue began when Mon-El and Shady unknowingly visit Apokalips. I wonder if people remember that that story is what put Darkseid on the map as a truly epic villain. Enjoyed the early 5 Years Later stories and then they started rebooting and I checked out. The Legion seems to struggle as a concept, and has done for decades, which is sad.

I think it was the first time I even heard of him.

Same here. I remember most readers being stumped in the letter pages, but I recall a few readers guessed, but they didn’t publish the name so they could do that big reveal. It’s weird that Darkseid, while not forgotten, wasn’t considered “big enough” to be the villain by most readers. But then back in those days Batman wasn’t “Batman”….he was just a detective in a cool suit.

The cover art is really beautiful, though:

If the actual animation looked like this, we might really have something.

I guess this is kind of a weird reason to be interested in this movie, but while I never really read the Legion of Super-Heroes comics, as a kid I used to collect comic book trading cards and out of my DC set, all of the Legion cards were my favorites because I just thought all the characters looked really cool.

I was a huge Legion fan at around the same time, and this was the first time I'd heard of Darkseid too. I was so ticked off that the big reveal was some guy I didn't even know about.

EDIT: And it was a few years after that before I realized that Morgan Edge had a connection to Darkseid--I'd read Superman and Action pretty regularly from about 1977 onward at that point.

The LoSH comics' best run--with minor drop-offs in quality--can be found from 1973 - 1987 (which includes issues when the title shifted from Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes, to simply Legion of Super-Heroes after 1979). The various creative teams knew how to marry sci-fi to super-heroics and young adult drama without it leaning toward what would later been seen on WB/CW TV series.

There was that "Justice League vs Fatal Five" animated movie a while back, and the Legion did have a show on the WB in the mid 2000s.
