Someone mentioned in another thread how every DC or Marvel Thread seems to break down into a debate about which property does it better. It is becoming a little tiresome for many. So, here is the thread to have that discussion.

Spoiler Tags should be used, at least for recent productions (released in the last calendar year) and all discussion should be civil and focused on the content, not the posters. No personal attacks or criticisms of a person's taste. MODS, please feel free to shut this down if people cannot abide by this expectation.

My personal opinion is that I enjoy both Marvel and DC, although I tend to lean heavier on DC in my comic reading and slightly more in favor of the MCU on screen. But mainly, I am just really happy that we have so much to watch these days, considering that for most of my life there was little quality comic book stories told on screen.

POLL Added, but I am open to changes and additions.

They both have their ups and downs.

Marvel will never beat 60s Batman though.

Actually, would it be OK if, when I get home , I set up a NEW thread...with a poll. So we can see how many are MCU, DCFU, or multicultural? I think THAT will be more useful...that way we can see from the poll who we should ignore, and who might not be the enemy we think they are

Nothing has touched movies like Joker or Logan, IMHO.

I loved the "Snyderverse" DC movies, but they mostly went downhill after. Give me the Ayer cut of Suicide Squad over The Suicide Squad any day. The Flash looks like it could be fun but I suspect it's gonna suck balls and with Ezra Miller going off the rails I suspect it's doomed at this point anyway. I loved the MCU but after Endgame they fell off a cliff too, at least until the latest Spider-Man and Doctor Strange movies got things back on track. Eternals was utterly awful.

I guess both are a mixed bag, MCU more consistent but DC hitting higher highs and lower lows.

The MCU seems to be at its best when it crosses over with itself while the DC movies seem to be better when the characters are off in their own separate little corners. My opinion, at least.

Might be useful but only if you have a gamut of options and not simply "MCU, DCEU, both, neither." Include such options like "Love the MCU/love only parts of the DCEU" and variations of that nature.

Oh absolutely. I am open to suggestions as to the variants.

Definitely one is Multicultural = I love BOTH DC and Marvel

    Also
Complicated = I have a multiverse of thoughts and nuance

A Taxi Driver wannabe and a generic predictable Western? That's all?

Can you change it from DCCU to DCLA (for Live Action). Really...that COULD include animated, like the MCU includes Disney + including animation.

The MCU is mostly all connected, but the DC multiverse is literally all over the place

Sorry--it doesn't want to allow me to change the actual options I posted.

I like both but prefer the MCU.
I've enjoyed pretty much all of the MCU movies, even Iron Man 2, and Thor: The Dark World, although they're still my least favorite movies in the franchise.
I'd put my favorites, like Infinity War & Endgame, both Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Ragnarok, Black Panther, and The Winter Soldier right up there as some of my favorite movies of all time.
The DCCU/DCEU/whatever you want to call it has been a bit more hit or miss for me. I thought the Snyder movies were OK, and I actually enjoyed Suicide Squad and the Whedon version of Justice League. I'd the first Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad are right up there with the best of the MCU. I liked Shazam quite a bit, but I'm not sure if I'd put it up there with those.

Yeah, you can't make changes once someone votes (pretty sure you can still edit as long as there aren't any votes).

As for the actual poll, I much prefer the MCU. I also love Shazam!, Birds of Prey, Harley Quinn, and enjoy The Batman (although I can't say I love it, at least not yet) but I'm not fan of the rest.

I like Marvel and DC but when we are talking about MCU and DCCU then of course it's got to be Marvel. Marvel held the line, weathered it's problems and went from good to great and became one of the most coherent and well thought out franchises within 10 years.
There are some DCCU movies and series I like but it's pretty messy, there were a lot of course changes, sometimes it felt dark for the sake of being dark. They haven't really embraced the full potential of what a DCCU could be. The DC animated Universe was so brilliant. I'd like to see something like that.

MCU, but it's hardly much of a comparison when one had a plan and stuck with it thru 20 plus movies while the other quit their shared universe after just 4 or 5 films.

Capturing the essence of a character and successfully integrating that (and fantasy elements) in real world settings with reactions one would expect in a structurally sound story is what I want out of any superhero film. It is not a DC v. Marvel matter, hence the reason I find the best MC/TCU productions have been:

    Captain America: The First Avenger
    Captain America: The Winter Soldier
    The Incredible Hulk
    Thor
    The Punisher
    Daredevil
    Jessica Jones
    Luke Cage
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

...and around 75% of Captain Marvel and Captain America: Civil War.

That's the Marvel productions being serious, coherent and taking the serious dive into the hero's motives / beliefs.

..and of course, from the DCEU:

    Man of Steel
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice
    Wonder Woman
    Zack Snyder's Justice League

    Outside of the DECU: Joker.

...and close to 75% - 80% of Aquaman after a recent revisit.

Aside from the DCEU movies, only the CW's Black Lightning was was a solid production (the one and only great DC/CW series thanks to who did not develop and run it), with its often no-punches-pulled take on a superhero dealing with real world matters almost perfectly interwoven with fantasy elements.

There is no either/or, as both franchises have films I have not watched more than one time (meaning it was never worth a second viewing), which is the reason they're not listed here.

You want to them to all be creatively bankrupt and never embrace the truly wondrous, then.
