Spoilers The Ships of Lower Decks

I thought that was obvious since Season 2, they looked identical to other torpedo launchers we've seen on Federation ships.

Eh STO doesn't have any ships like that.
You might wanna take another look.
The Zeyphyr & Saber Escort class ships are pretty darn close.
(it's just got a different nacelle placement)
I'm betting that is where this particular ship is going to show up in Tier-6.

Yeah, it's only a matter of time before these new ships show up in STO. Sadly, like most of the ones people want (like the Cerritos and Vancouver), they're likely to only appear in the form of an Infinity Lock Box or something. Damn near impossible to get without spending a metric ass-ton of Zen on gold keys.

If Aledo is NA-01, what would be the registry of the presumed class-ship, the USS Texas? Or are pilot ships no longer named for the class now?

There are 2 ways to pick a class name. Usually its after the first ship, but if you decide to give the entire class themed names then you can choose to call the class by the theme instead. Sometimes you might initially name it for the theme but later decide to switch to the first ship. For example, I think Starship class vessels are all named after famous starships. Later, Starfleet changed policy and switched the class name to Constitution. Danube class ships may have had something similar happen. Luna class ships are actually both since Luna means moon.

Starship Class is an umbrella term used by the Federation for covering a wide variety of starship classes in service during the 22nd century and 23rd century. The USS Franklin, a Freedom-class starship lost in the early 2160s, was identified as a Starship Class vessel on her dedication plaque. A century later, the USS Enterprise had a dedication plaque in which it is stated: "Starship Class: Constitution".

The registry NA-01 was used twice, actually. The first time was for Tycho Base sometime before 2143, when its assignment patch was seen at the 601 Club in the episode "First Flight" bearing the outpost's registry of NA-01.

In the alternate reality seen in "Yesterday's Enterprise", there is this line of dialogue about the Enterprise-D:

"She was the first Galaxy-class warship built by the Federation. Forty-two decks. Capable of transporting over six thousand troops."

Wikipedia has an article about the naming of ship classes. It seems that the Federation uses different naming conventions which are mirrored in the real world.

It could be that there is a USS Texas being the lead ship of its class, and that it was simply delayed so that the Aledo was in fact the first to enter service, as per Buenamigo's statement. Though I still would expect the prototype would carry the NA-01 number, not the Aledo. This makes me suspect that not only is there no USS Texas, but probably no USS California for the California class either. I don't like it, as far as we know this has never been the case with Starfleet ship classes - even if there are real-world naval precedents.

But, is that established as a tradition or fan assumption?
Pretty sure it's out of the old Franz Joseph technical manual. On-screen, you've got the Enterprise-D explictly the first of her class in "Yesterday's Enterprise" and old novels that said the same of the classic TV show Enterprise (whose registry was originally meant to represent 01st ship of the 17th class, or somesuch)

In Yesterdays Enterprise, it was the Enterprise was the first Galaxy Class "Warship" The Uss Galaxy could have been to far in the pipe to be redesigned as a warship, so a possibliity of of the first 1 or 2 galaxy class ships weren't warships, but by the time the Enterprise was built, it was redesigned for war. so technically the first galaxy class "Warship" Something like the Tos Enterprise the first ship refit to the "Enterprise" Sub Class in TMP.

Also, the Type 15 shuttle pod is warp capable? And high enough to be interstellar? Not like Starbase 80 was right next door?? Also, it was the mini van version since it had to have more than the normal 2 seats since there were 3 with Bucket Mariner.

Also .. Asymetrical!! @Atolm would be Happy!

I'd bet dollars to donuts that ship is being "piloted" by the likes of I'd Peanut Hamper, AGIMUS or any of the other malevolent A.I.'s that we've seen, and that Section 31 is involved. Some kinda plot to use shackled A.I. to do the their bidding.

The novels had it both ways with the Vesta- class. Originally there were seven ships built, named for the seven hills of Rome, with Vesta just being the theme/project name, but eventually the writers needed another one, so they retconned that there actually had been a USS Vesta but its frame was overstressed during its shakedown cruise and the ship was mothballed until it was eventually repaired and brought into service.

Whoa, I had thought that there had been a Vesta all along, and wondered which 1 of the 7 hills had been left out.

We are clearly being trolled, with the NCC-77567 shuttle 'Red Wood' landing next to the NCC-75567 shuttle 'Redwood' in the Cerritos shuttlebay. :D

We don't know which ship NCC-77567 is, do we?

Two, actually. As yet there hasn't been a USS Caelian or USS Palatine.

While it's no proof, the fact that none of the California fleet were named USS California does suggest there's no class ship per se in Lower Decks, just like the Aledo being the first of the Texas class. I know there are many ways to explain this in-universe, but it seems to me that IRL the creators never thought of having a class ship named USS California ou USS Texas.

Edit: this begs the question, is the Osler NX-75300 actually Osler-class or something else?

Also, looking forward to better screen caps from this episode as a number of registries might be readable, including what appears to be the USS Vacaville NCC-72707.
