Spoilers The new (massive spoiler) ship!

So D is the biggest.

If they start making STO canon we'll soon have a mess of fanboy fantasy where a universe used to be.
They’re not making any of STO’s story canon. Just some of the ship designs and some minor references/Easter eggs, like the mention of Risian Caracals in DSC season 4. (It was confirmed by the writer to be a nod to STO)

STO’s story is incompatible with the current 24th/25th century Trek shows anyways. STO as adapted some story stuff from the news shows into its backstory, like the Synth attack on Mars.

I am not all that familiar with this design, it looks...o-kay? (Maybe) I loved the design of E, it looks so graceful and sleek.

So this ship is capable of saucer separation as well? Meh, never really liked that because they hardly ever used it! Sure, perhaps there were production limitations at the time that prevented them showing that feature more often but if you knew that going in, why keep the feature then?! So maddening. Prometheus splitting into three units? Much better. Voyager actually landing on a planet surface? Way cooler.

As with certain omissions with the number 13, I think Starfleet should skip any usage of the letter F. To me, seeing that letter only signifies Failure.

Saucer separation is an ability it can use in the game the design came from.

Modern Trek has adapted ideas from the novels, referenced them, used old RPG booklets for space co-ordinates and all sorts. It just means the ancient era where Richard Arnold treated the tie-ins like garbage is long gone. Now they're what they always should have been - a resource.

Well, they’re a resource if someone wants to use them as such. But they are under no obligation to do so because those resources aren’t official.

They won't make Star Trek Online canon because anyone who doesn't follow it will have no idea what's going on. I'd have no idea what's going on. "Play the games!" No. "I'll fill you in!" Please don't.

They are official, just non-canon.
unofficial to me implies things like original concepts in fan fiction/fan art.

Paramount owns everything Cryptic makes for STO, they also own anything used in the novels (unless otherwise negotiated, like the Vesta class design)

I mean that's basically what I said.

They’re official publications, but they aren’t official as far as what’s shown on screen is concerned. Any scriptwriter is welcome to completely ignore what some novel stated, because they aren’t considered a canon source. But as @F. King Daniel said, they’re welcome to pick and choose things from novels, comics, games, etc to use in a show, but that doesn’t mean that the novel, comic, game etc. is now canon, just the information they used from it. The STO Ross class starship is canon; the STO Concorde class is not.

This doesn't make STO canon any more than the Titan being a Luna class on Lower Decks made the novels canon.
I never suggested that this will/they will make STO canon, I was merely commenting on a hypothetical and STO.

To be fair to STO, it came along at a time when it honestly looked like Trek on TV/in movies was dead forever. That left them free to go off in their own directions. They also have to operate under the burden of being generic enough for MMORPG play. They've done a pretty good job within their mandate, but they were never going to make full canon status. Still, it would be (and is) nice to see select bits canonized.

I wish there was a 'love' option for posts, not just like.
