Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I was kinda hoping to see a brief glimpse of the Pasteur in that scene where they were leaving spacedock.

Yeah, Clancy made a very legitimate decision based on the information available to her at the time. That wouldn't have required her to resign. She might have had to resign due to the scandal that would have inevitably followed Commodore Oh's exposure, especially if Clancy were the one who personally selected Oh for the position of head of Starfleet Security. Though even if that weren't the case, I'm sure the head of Starfleet would face some difficult questions regarding how an enemy spy operated as head of the organization's security branch on her watch.

That whole thing is completely despicable, including fan responses of course. Though, RMB's response makes me think of this:

Did RMB intend it as a compliment?

It is a deliberately obscure comment meant to generate clicks. Keeping the spotlight firmly on RMB.

Allow me to translate offensive 1990s American Male-ese for you. Rob employed a metaphor across two tweets-- in his opinion, the showrunners of Rings of Power "didn't f--k the prom queen" i.e. they failed with a high-profile show. But with Picard Season 3, Terry "f----d the prom queen" i.e. he succeeded with a high-profile show. Rob says he has seen a preliminary version of S3, which Terry has not disputed.

Terry has chatted with numerous Trek fans and commentators not fond of the Abrams-Kurtzman style in an attempt to promote his show and grow the viewership for current Trek, as Terry predates the Robot / Hideout era, getting his start on Voyager and Enterprise. The fact that anyone finds this objectionable is absurd.

Prior to PIC, Terry Matalas was only involved with ENT.

I'm not a fan of Abrams Trek but am a fan Kurtzman Trek (okay, really just DSC and PIC). But I guess this is about what their perceptions are.

My perception of PIC Season 3 is "TNG if it were done as a TOS Movie", but we'll see. Better that than "TNG as another season of ENT." Especially since ENT is the Trek series I like the least.

I should clarify that "f--king the prom queen" is a quote from cheesy action movie The Rock, so this was Rob's attempt at film reference humor. The composer of 12 Monkeys responded with a quip about "Terry f--ks prom queen" being a Variety headline and Terry responded with a shocked Matt LeBlanc face, and for that a group of smug tweeters have been trying to shame and scold Terry, thinking they're doing something socially important wasting time on Twitter.
