Spoilers Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff ‘House Of The Dragons’ ordered to series

Why did the Knight Cole attack? We don't even seen him losing his patience or what was the ultimate trigger point to what was boiling inside him. For an episode of television that just felt weird.

Between Rhaenerya rejecting his marriage proposal, being forced to watch her and Laenor being presented as a future couple, Criston Cole's ego had been somewhat damaged. But I believe Ser Joffrey's comments about their situation finally triggered his violent behavior. Frankly, I think Knight Cole had been very stupid, illusional and immature.

Cole couldn't stand the realization he was no better than a pillow boy.

For being an altar boy, Ser Christian, er Criston is as self-serving as any royal we've seen.

Eh, not really. If he was just self interested he would keep things going and maybe put his bastards in her belly, which would advance him much futher.

His whole sense of identity is built around stories of knightly virtue. He realized it was all a sham, hence his ego collapsed.

It seemed to me he was more interested in his virtue than Rhaenyra or serving the kingdom. What struck me was his last line after his proposal was rejected was about restoring his white cloak not her love or anything else. While I get his sense of identity was wrapped around this his actions still were only about himself.

I've watching Matt's Doctor Who run. Often on the same day I watch House of Dragons. He looks the same.
Yeah! I know Matt was young when he became the Doctor (24 I think?) but dammit, he ain't aging!

Matt is really impressing me on this show. He's managed to take a character that could easily be portrayed as a Stock Villain and put some real nuance and depth into him. Daemon is a fascinating mass of contradictions (and sexy AF).

House of the Dragon slowly falling behind Game Of Thrones in lineal TV viewership, but I don't think that means anything as I don't think even HBO GO existed when GOT premiered. Now, I would guess more stream than watch on the HBO TV chan.

I saw this theory from a HOTD FB comment page.

When Ser Cristin saw Daemon and Rhaenyra dancing together, he got triggered and went to attack Daemon. Ser Joffery saw what Ser Cristin was about to do and tried to stop him. Keep in mind Ser Joffery was watching Ser Cristin all this while. Ser Cristin saw Ser Joffery trying to stop him and so he redirected his anger towards Ser Joffery instead.

Daemon saw what Ser Cristin was up to and being afraid of the man who had defeated him before, disappeared, leaving Rhaenyra alone. Then that Ser Strongbones or whatever his name is, was then tasked by his father to rescue Rhaenyra.

More along the lines of "two men can keep a secret if one of them is dead", IMO.

That was my thinking too.
Hard to know though you could clearly see the s8 Daenerys look growing in his eyes

So episode 6 looks like the proper start of the show. With the main actress playing the princess from now on. It’s going to get some use to.
