Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Kate Mulgrew has said that the producers are "looking at Picard" (Possible spinoff?)

*** fingers crossed ***
Kate Mulgrew knows that she has had her show, all eyes may be on Picard but only for the Seven of Nine Spin-off. I would imagine Mulgrew being 110% supportive of this, and seein f her appear in the new series would be a dream.
Already in Picard, hehe

right, as a guest actor/cast member in another characters show. Like Seven is now.

gimme ten episodes of “Captain Worf” or “Captain Dax, “Julian Bashier MD”, etc…

You want all three? Only one? What happens after this ten episode run of Captain Worf?

And Dr. Bashir M.D.? I love medical shows but what would that be about? Medical mysteries are not exactly easy in Trek.

Not all three, I was just giving examples. And if it’s a series maybe do three, 10 episode seasons like Picard.

as for Bashier you could go a bunch of different ways. Maybe have him running a clinic somewhere even further out on the frontier. Maybe he’s in charge of Starfleet medical or Captain of a medical ship. Maybe do something like “House” where he runs a team of young hot shot doctors brought in to diagnose tough cases.

I'm trying to speculate on what the results would be. So, why not all three?

Also, what tough cases? Seriously, with Starfleet Medicine I find such mysteries hard to think they will be like House at all. Not saying it can't be done but it would be something I would find needing a deft touch. If it's on a medical ship then how is it different from a regular Starfleet vessel? Maybe we can have a mash up of Worf, Bashier and Dax? Three targs, one stone.

yeah, sure all 3 series would be fine too if the actors would be up for it. Maybe throw in a Quark series instead of Worf or Ezri since those shows could potentially cover similar ground just with a different perspective.

Honestly, I haven’t given much thought to a Bashier show. I was just spitballing ideas associated with the name. And “Julian Bashier MD” sounded like a good throwback show name like “Marcus Welby”, “House” or “Trapper John”. On the Medical mystery thing…I dunno, maybe something similar to the Blight/Quickening episode of DS9. If Disco can save the galaxy every season Bashier can cure a different plague 3 season in a row. You are right though that some stuff might become repetitive or tricky to do.

The idea of him running a clinic (Starfleet or not) or being a traveling doctor like the “Leonard McCoy Frontier Doctor” comic/graphic novel might work the best.

it would be too easy to make Bashier a spy and do a section 31 type show.

“House” just popped in my head because I’m rewatching that show right now.

Maybe throw in a Quark
Armin said in a recent interview that he wouldn’t want to be a regular anymore, not with that makeup. Guest spot would be fine, if he was paid whatever Dorn was in season 3 haha

Though maybe if it was an animated series he’d be willing because no makeup!

Sound booths though..

yeah a Quark series done “Lower Decks” style would certainly be the way to go.

LDS S3... ;)

I fully expect him to be one of the DS9 cameos in S3.

I know your spitballing but I was enjoying exploring it because I think that such ideas are fun to play around with. Though, I think Bashir MD would end up like Trapper John, MD just due to the having to create problems that Bashir can't solve right until the very end, which feels like a very strange limitation on 24th/25th century tech. Kind of like transporters having to be broken every other episode. But, on the other hand, I love medical shows so I really want it to work.
