"And I'm sorry I said a bunch of harsh but very true things."
"Wow, an apology that still doubles down on a thing you're apologizing for. That's very lawyerly."
"Yeah, I'm a much better lawyer than I am a Hulk."
That was so much damn fun...and
funny. I loved the banter between Jen and Bruce, ranging from jovial antics to harsh truths, while they both learned from each other's experiences. I especially enjoyed seeing the contrasting of masculinity and femininity, how each react to rage, experience, conflict, learning, fighting style, among others.
As expected, Tatiana Maslany is an absolute delight as both Jen and She-Hulk, both of whom are distinctly different but still the same person at the end of the day.
I also really loved the Bill Bixby reference with the car accident and ripping off the car door (even if the context of the door ripping was different).
Even thought it wasn't necessary, I appreciated filling in the gaps about how Bruce was able to become Professor Hulk with Tony's help, while also developing a bit more of the Tony/Bruce relationship which I always regretted we didn't get more of. Plus we got an explanation for his appearance in
Shang-Chi, even if that wasn't inherently needed.
I cannot wait to see what else this show will bring to Jen's story and for the greater MCU.
I did read in Variety that a lot of ep 1 was actually going to be in ep 8 according to the head writer but they moved it up because they felt fans would want to see Jen's origin story sooner. That was the right move. Leaving the origin story for ep 8 would have been a big mistake IMO.
Yeah, I saw that article last night and I agree the change was the right call. Especially with Jen's on-point comment about how people wouldn't be able to focus on this lawyer show until we got our origin story. She knows her audience well.
