I just learned that this was Dakota Beavers very first screen acting credit. Not to take anything away from Amber Midthunder's great performance, but for Beavers to deliver this as his screen debut, that's pretty impressive, as well. Hope to see more of both of them in the future.

Didn't know that about Dakota Beavers, that really is an impressive role and performance for a first on screen role.
As for the Predator going after other animals before the humans, I actually liked the way kind of had him going through bigger and bigger and more dangerous prey, before he finally made it to the people.
When they were referring to the Predator as a monster from one of their legends, did that mean that their people had encountered a one before?

I'd wondered about that too. I don't remember what the Commanche term for the Predator was, but that would have been a hell of a rite of passage for Naru to be the first to take one down. So maybe the drawings at the end weren't ominous as in the Predator ships are wiping out the tribe, but maybe they're landing to meet the legend that finally took a Yautja down?

Well they need to give her the trophy for defeating him, unless someone else comes to challenge her and defeats her to get the gun.

Maybe they take her to their homeworld to celebrate her and they take possession of the gun after she dies of old age?

Prey was really good. Best Predator movie of all, I think.

I'm starting to think I might need to rewatch Predator 2, because I don't remember why the gun is such a big deal.

If it's been a while since you've seen it, you'll be surprised at how good it is (especially compared to AvP, AvP: R, Predators and The Predator). I rank it pretty close to the first :)

I watched it a few months ago, but it takes a few repeated viewings for a movie to really stick in my head.

My god, I forgot The Predator even existed.

    I did like Predators, though.

Predators was a really cool concept with a surprisingly decent execution. Before Prey, Predators held an easy and comfortable second place in the franchise for me. But it definitely still needed work.

Too much of the cast felt b movie quality, the direction and visuals were serviceable and fun enough but not much more that, and the movie ultimately came across like it desperately wanted to have something new to say about the predators but wasn't entirely sure what to say so it just punted that to a sequel. That never happened.

I think as a story it probably would've felt way more succesful if it was the pilot episode of a prestige streaming series rather than a theatrical film. The ending has that feeling of things having only just gotten started and the concept would be much easier to explore in depth as a series.

I always thought Predator 2 was a little too cheesy. I mean all of them are a bit silly really, but that one is the most so. Frankly, if you want cheese in your action movie, just put 80s/90/s era Gary Busey in it. All that really holds it together imho is Danny Glover, who I really like.

@Grendelsbayne just pegged Predators :techman: The Predator is nothing special, but it did feel a little more sci-fi out of the gate, & the action holds up. I'd rank it higher than Prey if the characters came off better. Prey's saving grace is the character work imho

Can’t stand The Predator. Rather watch the AvP movies than that.

Yeah, The Predator was just shockingly terrible. The most boring and simultaneously the cheesiest/dumbest film in the franchise. It's the only one of the five that I will never watch again.

Was that the one with the stupid-bulky Pred costume with the feet that wobbled when he ran? I've honestly lost track of all these films now.

The very beginning Predator 2, the parts that established Glover's character were very cheesy. It included every single bit of cliched "renegade cop with anger issues" bit of dialogue that was so prevalent in the movies of that time. He was essentially playing Riggs instead of Murtaugh.

There should be an Alien and Predator buddy cop film where the Predator is days away from retirement.

One thing I've always wondered about... who took the credit for cleaning up Los Angeles in Predator 2? Peter Keyes was there under the pretenses of stopping King Willie's voodoo gangs from taking over the West Coast, but King Willie and some of his goons are taken out by the Predator. As are the Columbians and Jamaicans. Did the DEA (or whatever organization Keyes worked for) take credit? Did Captain Pilgrim and Lt. Harrigan of Metro Command get promotions? Or did Deputy Chief Heinemann or the Mayor take credit?

So with all this talk about The Predator I realized I'm not sure if I've actually seen it or not. So it turns out Hulu has every Predator movie available except that one which is only on their extra premium tier so it must be good!

    Ummm.. no

I mean, it's better than AvP and Requiem. It's entertaining, but nowhere near Predator 1-2, Predators level. It's pretty much the RoboCop 3 of Predator movies (it's co-written by Fred Dekker, who wrote and directed RoboCop 3)
