Building the Eaglemoss Enterprise-D partwork

I know you're upset and I agree you should be, but there's no reason to suppose malice on their part. I'm sure they are just as gutted that everything has to come to an end. It's not a happy outcome for anyone. :sigh:
Not necessarily malice. But surely they knew their own business financial accounts. Selling one off ships is ok as they are ‘complete’. But continuing to sell or even *starting* a part work that will potentially never be finished whilst the ‘ship is sinking’ so to speak is not acceptable really is it… it’s just trying to maintain a financial stream of income until the ‘bitter’ end without caring for the subscribers. The funny thing is, *everyone* was literally telling me (in real life, not so much here) that this ship will *never* be finished, why was I the only person that thought that it would be?:guffaw:

Fingers crossed though that someone picks it up and it *can* be finished…

Honestly I really don't know enough about this kind of thing.

Maybe they hoped things like the partworks would turn their fortunes around? They took a gamble and lost.

Or maybe as you say, there were sinister motives?

Ultimately, we may never know.

Once again, my sympathies to you and all other builders. I've followed this thread almost from the start. :(

I hope not sinister. Star Trek has enough villains as it is.

Perhaps there will be a happy ending though and we will be able to finish our starships somehow?:)

I’m sure that someone will come up with something? I might send some emails. :bolian:

Here's two interesting sources about all this drama:

https://www.thecompanion.app/2022/0...el-maker-eaglemoss-going-into-administration/

Not sure how much of an authority these people are on such things, but the TD;DR here is "British company Eaglemoss, specialists in part-work magazines and high-quality models, is in dire straits, but don’t worry about your subscription just yet."

And this video/talk, also released not long ago, shines a light on what was to come out soon, including (Gosh darn it!) a Babylon 5 line, which I would've loved to collect:

youtube.com/watch?v=fkSW9xYPWY8

So apparently, many more future plans were being made as late as June of this year. Make of that what you will.

I don’t think there’s any insider information here, it’s just a simple fact that administration doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the company. It’s often about restructuring a business so it’s more efficient, which may mean slimming down product lines, cutting staff or increasing prices.

Hopefully that will be the case here.

I'd invoke Hanlon's Razor here: "never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity".
I live that reality every day as a FedGov contractor. It really is quite astonishing how anything gets done. It’s mostly the contractors doing the heavy lifting anyway. We just need the govvies to sign off on the things we talk about in our meetings.

A link would be handy.

I took a break from the build due to going on vacation and not getting shipments for a while, and come back to this. Man,,....this sucks.

Now I'm wondering, have the final parts been milled and are simply waiting for distribution? Does anyone own a completed model?

Unlike some of their other part work subscriptions, there didn’t seem to be a “get all the parts at once” option so I don’t think anyone has a complete model. Similarly I’d also unfortunately guess that only the next few releases were even produced.

Surely there must be some E-D model out there that fufills at least two of these criteria. Has anyone built e.g. the Polar Lights one? Is it comparable in size?

I'd say everybody has built the Polar Lights E-D, since it's the same good ol' E-D kit that came out in the 90s ;). It's 1/1400 scale. The Eaglemoss was, what, 1/1000? So the PL is about 71% the size.
