Drawing #248 / 2022 Artwork #111: Been another busy week for me, so I only had time to do this piece of Godai from Maison Ikkoku. On the bright side, I'm starting to feel in a creative mood again, so hopefully we'll be back up to 2-3 drawings a week going forward.

Things are still progressing on EVA-Trek. Just last night, I managed to bang out the entire second act for the fourth episode's first draft script. I'm hoping I can take full advantage of my time today and tomorrow to try to finish the script, then go back over episodes 2 and 3 for additional revisions. Oh, how I wish I had a writer's room instead of trying to JMS it all myself.

Drawing #249 / 2022 Artwork #112: Had a sudden urge on the 4th of July to figure out what an anime-styled version of Brad Boimler would look like, so I followed through with it.

Drawing #250 / 2022 Artwork #113: Bortus and his magnificent mustache from The Orville. I wish the 'stache would make a comeback.

Drawing #251 / 2022 Artwork #114: Lt. Commander Katsuragi monitors the situation from USS Nerv's ops station on the Bridge on this week's EVA-Trek.

Since last week's post, I've also been hugely productive on EVA-Trek, completing the following for the next five episodes:

• Episode 102 "Enough Space" - Pink and yellow revisions to final draft
• Episode 103 "Fraternity - Final draft and blue revisions
• Episode 104 "Come Alive" - 1st and 2nd drafts
  
• Episode 105 "Ain't it the Life" - 1st draft outline
• Episode 106 "The One" - started on 1st draft outline

Not sure how I've turned these weekly drawing posts into production status reports on EVA-Trek, but that's' just how it goes in my brain sometimes.

Been an incredibly busy and productive week here at Studio Firebird, which included the completion of five new drawings, and the posting of episode 2 of EVA-Trek (available here in the main EVA-Trek thread)

Drawing #252 / 2022 Artwork #115: An attempt was made at a quick, 45-minute portrait of the actor Paul Newman. I was curious to try out my old pencil set and use an artistic style that I haven't gone back to in a while to mix things up.

Drawing #253 / 2022 Artwork #116: On the next Lower Decks, some temporal anomaly shenanigans send Boimler to where no Starfleet officer has gone before.

Drawing #254 / 2022 Artwork #117: EVA-Trek concept art - the Evangelion-class Mobile Unit, USS Hakone, MU-01, piloted by Crewman Shinji Ikari.

Drawing #255 / 2022 Artwork #118: Chief Engineer Kaji and Assistant Chief Takao in USS Nerv's main engineering.

Drawing #258 / 2022 Artwork #121: EVA-Trek concept sketch for Shinji and Asuka's synchronization training outfits in episode 107 "Walking After You." Pulling some inspiration from multiple Trek series for these.

Drawing #259 / 2022 Artwork #122: Within 30 seconds of seeing the Star Trek: Picard season 3 trailer yesterday, I just had to draw Captain Worf.

Drawing #260 / 2022 Artwork #123: Likewise, once I heard about the Strange New Worlds / Lower Decks crossover... well, I knew what I had to do.

Drawing #261 / 2022 Artwork #124: After all the Trek excitement yesterday, I brought things back to basics with a simple color drawing of Madoka Ayukawa from Kimagure Orange Road.

As I was scrolling down, I thought to myself 'Shinji and Asuka look like they're wearing Crusher and Troi's leotard/tights combos' - and they are! Brilliant!
Worf looks magnificent, and poor, poor Spock being annoyed by Boimler Bravo!

When I started brainstorming ideas for that episode, the first thing that came to mind was that the Starfleet version of their outfits would have to include those tights. Shinji is kinda my O’Brien, so he must suffer a little bit every week.

A bit of a slow week in terms of drawing because I was spending a fair bit of time working on the fifth draft outline of the EVA-Trek finale this week. Even though I won't be writing the actual script for that for at least a year, I've already got it all mapped out over 54 pages. Since my script outlines tend to be a third the length of the final script... that means the first draft of the two-hour finale could end up hitting 180 pages, or roughly three hours of screen time. Oops...

Anyway, on to the show...
