Change the dates around and it could be talking about current or future events - oh wait, that's what they did. Carry on.

Based on your theory this makes the state of Earth after the war, (and eventually United Earth) a Stormfront wet dream....oh dear.
I prefer to have a modern Trek be more diverse if showing humans, which at least SNW is trying, however IMO there are too many damn human characters on Trek. Reboot the whole thing and show one white male human in a minor role and diversify the rest. (cough, cough Discovery)

If you discount the white dudes in makeup, O'Brien was the only white guy on DS9.

Yeah, of all the DS9 characters that fans would easily recognize it was just O'Brien and Eddington. And we know how Eddington turned out.

I don't really feel comfortable making declarations about what Roddenberry would or wouldn't like about current Trek over 30 years after the man died.

Nor do I particularly care. Here's a potentially controversial opinion: I don't think Gene Roddenberry was the best judge of what did and didn't make good Star Trek.
True. The last time I watched "Code of Honor" was about two years ago, and it's a very slow, talky affair filled with scenes that don't really go anywhere. The story has a beginning and an ending, but it doesn't really have a middle.

He wasn't. I will always respect him for creating Trek and this wonderful universe he gave us but damn, he had some goofy ideas of human behavioral evolution and what was and wasn't canon.

Him and Rick Berman. They did a lot of good, but they didn't get everything right.

Let's be realistic... NO creator or showrunner or executive producer gets everything right.

That applies to ALL shows, movies, etc. in all genres. The task is impossible.

I doubt that anyone would have gotten everything right.

No. And neither will Kurtzman. But in general, I feel that we have been well served.

Isn't "right" what ever they decide it is?

It's subjective, of course. Someone actually thought they were "right" to make "These Are the Voyages", "Code of Honor", and "Threshold".

They get to make the episodes they want. If they turn out bad, so be it.

Or as we call it: way too many between 1966 and 2022.

Here is my controversial opinion for the month:

Voyager was better than Deep Space Nine.

Congratulations... I believe you have just posted the most controversial opinion in this entire thread.

Not really. I mean, I don't think "Voyager" was better than "Deep Space Nine". But I don't think "Deep Space Nine" was better than "Voyager", even if it had the potential to be so.

Most of "was better" or "was worse" is subjective anyway. I can say that I didn't think "Shades of Gray" was so bad; others might disagree.
