As with a lot of the other Disney+ Marvel shows we've only got two episodes left and it feels like very little has happened.

So either Kamala is experiencing a vivid vision or she has traveled back in time. I'm not sure what Kamala is going to get from the experience whichever the truth is, but I hope it's not Kamala rescuing her own great grandmother.

Good to get more background on the djinn and where they come from. Phase four is certainly ramping up the appearances of beings not from Earth, whether beings from beyond the stars, from different plains of existence, or outside of time entirely. I'm very curious to see what it's all building up to (whether it's Kang and/or someone else). Either way, I'm glad the show has continued to lean into the fact that Kamala's powers aren't just from the bangle, they're also genetic.

Does anyone have a translation for what Ant-Man says on the Karachi train station mural?

What show are you watching?

It really needs more than six episodes. This week's was all in Pakistan, and I assume next week's will be too, so we've got one more episode left actually set in Jersey City with Bruno, Naika, Kamala's dad and all the other fun side characters who made the first three episodes so good. It was still pretty good but definitely the weakest episode.

Clan Destine breaking out of a "supermax" prison so easily was lame. Clan Destine jumping out of nowhere making EVIL FACES was lame. Clan Destine are lame.

I can see where @StCoop is coming from, I think. A lot of incident, but not necessarily a lot of plot. There are faintly uncomfortable echoes of Doctor Who: Flux, here, in that it's throwing a lot at us - three shady/mysterious groups of people interested in Kamala, now, for example - with little explanation, so much I wonder how it can all be tied up in satisfying fashion in the two episodes left. Some of it has felt a little rushed, a little too convenient, like, as @CaptainWacky noted, how easily ClanDestine broke out of prison and how quickly they got to Karachi to menace Kamala again.

It's still hugely enjoyable, but aspects of the plotting do give me some quiet cause for concern. I'm pretty sure the overarching idea here is lots of people trying to dictate to Kamala who and what she is, was meant to be, and Kamala finally deciding for herself, in the process becoming Ms Marvel, but I worry they're overcomplicating it a bit, trying to pack too much into too few episodes, and may come undone in the process.

Yeah, I agree that one part of the episode wasn't good. I also could've done without the depiction of Damage Control being aggressively cruel, even if it mirrors reality.

That said, I loved how the episode otherwise immersed itself into Pakistani culture and I don't see that as a weakness at all (even if it means leaving behind character favorites). It's important to Kamala's self-discovery and learning about her family history beyond being a Pakistani-American.

I'm not sure that they're supposed to be Clan Destine. The subtitles identify them as the "Clandestines", one word.

Well that was easily the least "super" super-max ever. Knock out two guards and that's it? Free and clear? What was even the point of that!?

I'll be honest, this was my least favourite episode so far. It felt very busy, and rushed, with exposition crammed in between action set-pieces, and not a lot of character development going on. Also feels a little late in a 6 episode season to introduce yet more new characters.
I know it's a new setting and this is probably a deliberate choice, but I'm missing some of the unique visual flair of the premier. It almost feels like a different show, though not in a good way.
I'm guessing it's a memory stored in the bangle somehow, and it's what it's been trying to communicate every since the first train vision.
My take away from the exposition dump is that they're not actually djinn in the literal sense, anymore than Thor or the Eternals are actually "gods". That's just what they got labelled by the locals because that's the folklore. If they had popped out of their dimension in Japan, they'd probably have been called oni, if it had been western europe they'd be fae.

Either way it looks like the Inhuman connection has been dropped entirely (blue hand or no.)

Why else bring back Anson Mount for Doctor Strange if Kamala isn't an Inhuman?

A significantly lesser probability is Alan Davis' ClanDestine.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClanDestine

I'm waiting for when Kamala says "I'm with the Clan. The Clan is here to rescue you. Trust the Clan. Love the Clan."

Seriously? The two may or may not have anything to do with each other, but one does not require the other.

Let Kamala have her own story.

    She's an Inhuman.

A 30,000 year old Kree science experiment, who is going to be POTUS one day.

    Or...

    She's a fairy from a another dimension.

Phase four, the Secret Invasion is about he Skrulls, which is most of the time also about the Kree,

Besides if Carol and Kamala both got their shit from the (squint squint, yes Carol got her powers from the Space Stone...) Kree, then after a fashion she's allowed to call herself Ms Marvel without a nod from Carol.

The Bracelet has a hunk of Terrigen Crystals in it, obviously.

I mean, I'm all for seeing the Inhumans again (especially Quake and Black Bolt), but that may have just been because Black Bolt was in the Illuminati in the comics and they were doing the Illuminati and already had a Black Bolt cast.

Secret Invasion is just one show, not the phase, and the Secret Invasion storyline isn't at all about the Kree.

    That doesn't matter at all.

If they were doing Terrigen in the first place they would've done a more comic accurate rendition of her origin story.

It also probably helped that Anson Mount is a solid actor, and was far and away the only actually good part of that whole show. But yeah, it was a multi-verse thing and it didn't matter if 75% of the audience had no clue who that was supposed to be.

Lock Jaw is awesome and Crystal is so pretty.

The Inhumans show was just on such a small scale that I balked about how unreasonable it was. 200 people on the moon stratified into three distinct classes from opulence to dredge even though the Puppy could take anyone to Earth whenever, and they were always banging their cousins.

One of those is a shallow visual effect, only there for the look of the thing, and the other couldn't act their way out of a paper bag. What's more, telling which is which, based on that description is a challenge in and of itself.
That and about 50 other major flaws. This show wasn't a flawed gem, it was misshapen homunculus of a tv show. Even a soft reboot with a competent creative team would have struggled to course correct it up to the lofty heights of "mediocre".

I've never watched Inhumans and probably never will, but I am saddened to see that Iwan Rheon doesn't apparently rate as one of the few good things about it. He's a terrific actor as evidenced by the sharp contrast of performances in Game of Thrones and Vicious.

Says you. Not the show I'm watching.

She's from Jersey. Her great-grandmother might be. Or maybe I'm a Pomeranian prince.

Some of the time. Why this time?

She hasn't called herself anything yet. At most she's been cos-playing a character from her poster on her bedroom wall. That would make me at least a dozen characters I've dressed up as at FanCon over the years. On top of being a Pomeranian Prince. Jeez, I should have had my own movie by now.

Every glowing doohickey would be terrigen crystal if you were in charge. OH SHIT!!! There's a terrrigen crystal on the back of my computer!!!!!

<SHAZOOOM!!!> "i AM LAX! HIGH PRINCE OF POMERANIA!! BASTARD SON OF PERRIN!!! GOD OF ASSKICKING FOR JUSTICE!!!! LET ALL EVIL DOERS AND WEINERS BEWARE MY AWESOME SCRUTINY!!!!!
