Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

No wonder Chibnall has been less engaged with the press in the past year. Will people finally give him some fucking slack already or will they just say he deserved this treatment?
Oh, I'm sure someone will waltz in and claim that if Chibnall truly had a spine or something he'd have made it his business to find this stuff out, without actually explaining how he would go about this. After all, all television producers are supposed to be Based Chads who always get their way or something probably.

Nah.
If I was going to do anything like that I would mention how JNT basically wrecked his own career to keep the show going as long as he could when there was no replacement in the offing, or how Moffat did possibly a whole extra series and definitely an extra special just to keep things going waiting for Chibnall, so maybe Chibnall would have had some thoughts on how to prepare for what was coming next.
Though it’s likely not really anything he could do anything about, because the Beeb are pretty opaque when they want to be… I feel sorry for him, because I think these last few years have been him finding out a little bit about walking in the shoes of people like JNT in the old days, when he was just a fan who found himself on the soapbox.
It must have been a hell of an experience, and I am quite curious on what his take is.
As it stands, I would quite like it if he could maybe possibly persuade someone to perhaps make a shiny new trailer for what will likely be his last work for the show he has had such an interesting relationship with.

The most generous reading of him being kept out of the loop is that it had to do with the Bad Wolf side of things. And if Russell had been coming back just as Producer of an in-house show there would have been less secrecy.

Either way his last episode was written and shot in the assumption that it could be the last episode ever; or at least for an unknown amount of time. It's be interesting to see how that's reflected in the final product.

He did film half a regeneration, so I won’t mind if he didn’t keep that in mind.

Chibnall only finding out a week before from the Beeb though...
According to Matt Strevens, it was the night before. An evening phone call. Basically, as late as it could be but still before the public announcement. And he relayed that it was not them actively trying to pass the baton, but rather as time passed, they came to assume there would be no one to pass the baton to because there was absolutely no word about a replacement.

A realization I just had, since RTD was in talks with BBC since before Christmas 2020, that means last summer when JMS was making noise about becoming the next showrunner, there really was never a chance he would get the job. Granted, I doubt any of us believed he would anyway.

I think this the best look at the new logo that I've seen.

This is exactly the kind of thing where staking a position pretty much guarantees that you'll be wrong, but clappers usually use slapped-together working logos that don't have anything to do with the actual design that'll be used when the time comes to release the production. I'd be surprised if that's what appears in season 14.

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry,

That's from the filming of Flux, apparently.

So it is. I had looked into it, because I remembered the logo reveal being fairly far before the beginning of season 11, and saw that shooting did indeed begin October 31, 2017 (with the logo reveal the following February, disproving my theory that the logo may have been revealed prior to shooting), but I didn't do a reverse-search for the actual image itself.

I also found this, from season 5:
