[Captain's mess]

(Archer is choking on his food.)
TUCKER: Excuse me?
T'POL: I asked if you've
ARCHER: We heard you. What makes you think we're suffering from a lack of sexual activity?
T'POL: Starfleet forbids officers from fraternising with subordinates. Unless you've been violating regulations
TUCKER: Those regulations don't apply to you. Have you been suffering?
T'POL: On Vulcan, we mate only once every seven years.
TUCKER: That's a hell of a dry spell.

Thank you so much for trying to play as well. Sadly, we're out of gifts now... :p
Huh. And to think, I remember a time when everyone complained Enterprise was the show that was thoughtlessly violating canon. And now people are accusing other shows of violating canon as laid down by Enterprise. What a world.

Regardless, even Enterprise itself disregarded that scene, when Trip and T'Pol began sexual relations in the third season.

Can't believe it. Enterprise is, and remains, a poor outing.
It has its moments. Though it seems we're once again seeing proof that a Trek show doesn't truly get embraced by the fandom until after it ends. I guess the current era needs to hurry up and end so the fandom can embrace it and forgive the mistakes its made rather than complaining about them.

I guess so. Sooner the better.

In twenty years someone here will complain about how new Trek isn't "real Star Trek" and is ruining the legacy of the early Paramount+ era. Time is a flat circle.

I think people are really liking SNW. I am. Its not perfect but I look forward to each new episode and wished they would make at least 15 a season. I'll probably watch the whole season again later this summer. Thats rare for me.

If something ACTUALLY prejudicial to free speech or the rules is happening in a thread, STFU and let the mod responsible for the forum deal with it. If you aren't mature enough, or lack the self control to do that, maybe you should reconsider your position as a mod.

I missed this last night as I was half-asleep.

I get that you were frustrated, but you can't flame in response, and STFU is most definitely a flame. So warning for flaming.

To all:

Passions will be high at times after watching episodes, particularly if episodes touch upon modern-day hot button issues. It would be helpful if instead of firing up at people and getting personal, you stay calm. And as Kirk once said, leave the bigotry in your quarters.

I'm pretty liberal when it comes to warnings, but in here, I won't be. I don't want this place to because a place where insults fly and where people feel they can come and make trouble.

So adjust your behaviors accordingly. There's no appeal from my warnings, you know? And annoy me enough and I'll remove you.

And we've seen on SNW that Vulcans do it whenever they like..

Maurice wins this round.
don't generalize. we only saw spock and t'pring, in their specific situation.
what was your opinion before snw came out?

no simple user determines a winner, and no winner is needed :p

there simply is no canon source that supports that vulcans, generally, do it all the time.

KOV: Vulcan males are driven to mate once every seven years.

PICARD (as Sarek): I wanted to show you such tenderness. But that is not our way.

There's no canon source that says Vulcans don't have two eyes on their buttons, either.

We've seen multiple Vulcans mate by choice. You've got to make up silly explanations to "excuse" or misinterpret those instances, and that doesn't fly.

Spock and T'Pring are at it pretty hot and heavy. Canon.

Why are people so prudish about this?

Trek's canon is inconsistent and frequently contradicts itself, and always has.

T'Pring and Stonn were doing it. T'Pring as much told Spock she'd be doing it with him whether Spock divorced her or not. Not a woman for long distance romance or waiting around like some Bronte heroine on the moors.

Just like some ambassadors are quite capable of killing quite efficiently given a logical reason no doubt Vulcans will get their freak on when they desire. They use their logic to suppress emotion but there's no reason their logic can't chose when they can express emotion. Or just get plain freaky.

T'Pring was fooling around behind Spock's back for years. In TOS she even says Spock was going to be gone because he was a legend and she didn't want to be the consort of a legend, so she took the logical course that was open to her. They developed a relationship at work and she kept that hidden until the big reveal at the right moment.

Here read this. DC Fontana was story editor for TOS. Also how do you explain Tpol. Case should be closed after this.

Honestly the "every 7 years" thing is just kinda stupid and I wish they followed the implication in "Amok Time" and made it a one time deal. Where you have to follow the drive to mate (especially if you haven't already). Why do you have to create a new kid every 7 years? Even if you already had a few kids....
