So Roddenberry/Berman Trek are effectively a different universe than Kurtzman Trek, despite claiming to be the Prime Universe?

Which is the same timeline as ENT. All of Trek happens in the same continuity unless history is changed in a particular episode or episodes or a film and must then be corrected. I don't buy into the "FC altered everything" theory and really never have. A teenage Kirk learning about Earth history in school would read about Jonathan Archer, the NX Project and the Xindi probe attack.
Roddenberry and Berman Trek is my favourite Trek but I somehow feel that there is more to all of this than meets the eye and I am wrong in saying that this is my favourite version of Trek ? Or am I right? Who knows? Not meSo Roddenberry/Berman Trek are effectively a different universe than Kurtzman Trek, despite claiming to be the Prime Universe?
Like what you want. There are no rules.Roddenberry and Berman Trek is my favourite Trek but I somehow feel that there is more to all of this than meets the eye and I am wrong in saying that this is my favourite version of Trek ? Or am I right? Who knows? Not me
Star Trek is getting too complicated for me I might go Star Wars… haha
Some may refer to it that way. I've always referred to canon. All the live action trek is canon. And I remember the debates about whether Enterprise was canon or not. I think those debates had merit, but I think how the series played out settled the matter. Will Discovery or SNW settle the matter or leave it hanging? Who can say. You’re being disingenuous.
The Prime timeline has long been how the fandom refer to the main continuity from TOS-ENT. By stating Discovery takes place in the Prime timeline, those involved were saying it’s part of that same continuity. That’s what “it’s supposed to mean” (ie: exactly what it says).
See, you saying my opinion is not true is the issue I have. That is your opinion and I believe Canon trumps producers when you have a franchise that has such a long history.I’m not offended if you call it a reboot. I’m not cross if you want to say it takes place in a different universe. Neither of those statements are true though. Authorial intent trumps fans I’m afraid.
At some point all the current series are going to end and pass into the realm of past Trek. I think that in the future when they are looked back on, the inconsistencies will be noted and an explanation created. I'm just thinking ahead. My fandom predates TNG so I've seen a lot of discussions over the years. I know how a lot of fans think and how they settled past discrepancies. The simplest and most elegant way to sort out the current series discrepancies is reboot in parallel universe following the prime timeline. So in the SNW universe, there will be a Picard a Stargazer and a 1701-D. There will be a voyager and a Janeway. You’re free to headcanon whatever you like, but it’s pretty silly to play semantic games with statements of clear intent in order to make yourself feel better about it all.
It won't.Will Discovery or SNW settle the matter or leave it hanging
Of course it's canon. Nothing will change that. Will Discovery or SNW settle the matter or leave it hanging? Who can say.
Nope, that's the opposite of elegant. The simplest and most elegant way to sort out the current series discrepancies is reboot in parallel universe following the prime timeline.
Canon is just one tool that the producers. writers and artists can use to tell stories. It's not a "trump card"That is your opinion and I believe Canon trumps producers when you have a franchise that has such a long history.

And the films. It's my understanding that for better or worse, all televised Trek is Canon?
And the films.

If it lands on a screen small or big it's canon.
So if canon is mutable and up the interpretation of the individual then what’s the point of it anyway?
I wish the Irish village holodeck episodes of VOY weren't canon. But they are. And somehow I sleep at night.
