Can't imagine where he got that idea...Perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised given that J. J. Abrams directed The Force Awakens.

"Well the producers—before we even started filming when they were talking to us about the project—did say that they felt that we hadn’t been given a proper send off in Nemesis. And that they wanted to send us off the right way, which I appreciated because this is something that’s taken up my life on and off since 1987. And I did feel that we were kind of discarded a little bit. But we were definitely cherished on this project."Expect S3 around February...

Maybe they got it from Star Wars?
I don't recall anything in TOS about Kirk being "destined" to command Enterprise.
Star Wars is the reason TMP got made in the first place.

I know this sounds like TNG Season 8, but Marina was there for two months so by the sounds of things not every character is in the full run.
Fingers crossed they get better closure this time round...

I think in the history of the franchise, there have been 3 major screw-ups.
1. TOS Cancellation/No closure.
As often happens in TV, the show just cut cut after S3. No resolution. Heck, they could have addressed it un TAS, but that got cut after 6 episodes in S2 as well.
Status: Fixed.
The movies fixed this. Undiscovered Country was excellent. I have more mixed feelings on Kirk in Generations, but it wasn't a disaster.
II. TNG Crew cast aside after Nemesis.
The opposite of TOS. TNG had a great TV wrap and they cruel cut came after Nemesis. No real sendoff.
Fix: Picard S3 hopefully.
III. Enterprise Ending/TATV.
Just when it was getting good, cancelled. If there had been one less episode, that would have been pretty satisfying. But closing it out with Riker & Troi was a slap in the face.
Fix: Maybe not possible. Need Bakula, Jolene, Phlox at a min.
So I wonder, Picard Season 3 tease tomorrow? It's Captain Picard Day.
Last year we got a teaser for Season 2.
Substantial evidence that it would make money and people would actually buy it vs. just saying they would buy it.Its fixable, even without the original sets available and the cast almost two decades older from when the show ended. It’s a hill I’m wiling to die on. But CBS/Paramount have not bothered to prioritize it as something to be tackled and I don’t know if they have any intention to fix it. The failure of ENT gave rise to the reboot movies and eventually DIS and the current era of Trek. And I think CBS/Paramount are happy with the reboot movies and DIS. Only they know what it would take to greenlight a production to fix that.
Well, he is the son of Thor.
I only mentioned it because we did get a Season 2 teaser on Picard Day last year.I think they'll wait for Star Trek Day to release a trailer for Picard season 3.
Or maybe next month at Comic Con.I think they'll wait for Star Trek Day to release a trailer for Picard season 3.
Oh I don't doubt Seven getting a full commission, her popularity warrants such a thing. There's never been a Captain quite like Seven of Nine.
How many Captains in Starfleet have started off as VILLAINS?
Starfleet is a fictional organization -- so they're going to do what they want.
Seven will get her full commission (Admiral Picard can testify to Seven pulling Elnor off a Borg cube. She's the reason he's a cadet at Starfleet Academy today.)
Janeway can testify to Seven steering Voyager through a toxic gas cloud all by herself.
I remember that, he was an acting Ensign and later earned his role as a commissioned officer, but I suspect Seven will get a much higher rank than Crusher's son despite her lack of Starfleet experience. Which for me, is very logical from a series geared more towards the outlandish.Remember when the flagship of the Federation was steered by the doctor's son? So really having Seven leapfrog more experienced officers is the most TNG thing PIC did.

So there will be at least one TNG character that hasn’t been announced that Terry was really excited to get.
If season three is a send-off for the main cast, it would be fab to see someone like Pulaski. She was in almost as many eps as Tasha, after all. Speaking of which, I assume someone has already floated the notion of Sela showing up?I hope it's Pulaski. Matalas liked my Tweet when I asked him if it's her...
