You're not wrong, sir, I'll give you that.

Then again, that just brings to mind Jay Cutler, when people--Collinsworth comes to mind--loved to append labels of "Good Jay" and "Bad Jay." And Chicago ran him out of town on pitchforks, despite him holding most major passing records for the Bears' franchise and being their best quarterback, historically, not named Sid Luckman.

Does it matter? He will walk away from all of this with very little real punishment.

I missed this earlier. Have you forgotten that Bryant's lawyers went scorched-earth on his accuser, including leaking her name to the media (prompting Colorado to change its rape shield law), and Bryant eventually settled out of court and issued a mealy mouthed "I thought this was consensual but obviously she did not" statement?

Kupp really undervalued himself based on what receivers now get.

I think he’s in the perfect place for him. I like to think he’s one of those guys that will be a Ram for life. $75 million guaranteed is not bad.

Texans to be added as defendants in the Deshaun Watson lawsuits, according to Pro Football Talk.

Yeah, starting to sound like it is a 3/$75 deal with two years tacked on for cap relief.

It's the most guaranteed money ever for a non-QB offensive player, from what I'm reading. Sounds like he got pretty good value.

Being a huge Lakers and Kobe fan and because I had a lot of time on my
hands, I followed this case inch by inch and in minute detail. Not only did I conclude that no “rape” occurred, I got an education in modern sex assault laws.

Not certain what you mean by “scorched earth” but what Kobe’s lawyers let the accuser know from the beginning that they were doing to look at ALL aspects of the case which included her activity after the incident.

I never read a single thing about Kobe’s attorney’s leaking her name. What could they possibly hope to gain by doing this? Besides that, the Eagle,
Co. newspapers knew her name early on, as did many other news outlets. Anyone could I’ve leaked her name. And if she was telling the truth, and she was the victim of a crime, then why should her name not be out there?

Their rape shelfd law wasn’t the only law Colorado legislature knee jerk reached to after the Kobe case. changed.

I thought the statement was beautifully worded, giving the accuser enough ammo to “plausibly” claim she didn’t have consensual sex with Kobe while stopping short of an admission of sex assault.

But this case was textbook example of the shortcomings of most states’ sex assault laws.

This was a straightforward case of misunderstanding between two people and never should have been charged. There was zero physical evidence of forced sex.

The accuser admitted she didn’t do or say anything to indicate to Kobe she didn’t want things to progress. Yes, I know that a person does not have to do this in order to prove rape, but this can lead to musundseatanding.

Kobe thought the sex was consensual, but he treated her like crap, so, IMO, because Kobe treated her so badly, and she likely felt so bad about it, next day she decided she’d been raped.

One of the biggest problems with sex assault laws is that they really treat rape like it’s not sex. It is criminal sex, but it is still sex. But, the biggest problem with sex assault laws, at least back in the early 00,’ was that they were largely based on the notion that no woman would lie about rape. MOST women would not lie, but some would.

That type of law is based on an absolute presumption about human nature that is flawed in a major way.
Situations like Kane and Kaitlyb’s are way too complicated to be governed by such simple minded swx assault laws.

Thus, I believe that with no eyewitnesses, physical evidence, orhistory (on Kobe’s part), his account of the incident was just as plausible as her’s.

You don’t think your personal bias couldn’t play a part in how you see this issue?

Hush, now. Everyone knows that jolly old Saint Kobe is a Living God on Earth™ and should never be questioned. Our limited lizard hind-brains cannot possibly comprehend the complexity of His Plan. We pathetic mortals are but mere bugs to be squashed at his will and pleasure.

This is still the NFL thread, right?
