Someone was speculating that a lot of wide receivers would start going in the first round so that teams would have the fifth-year option and then let them go afterward when they demand a lot of money. Perhaps he knew what he was talking about.
 
Eagles trade the 18th pick and a third round pick (101) to the Titans for AJ Brown. :eek:

Then the Titans draft... a WR.

And AJ Brown gets a new contract that the Titans don't have to pay.

Malik Willis and Matt Corral were supposedly the only two players in the green room not to get drafted. I wonder how many there are every year in the first round. I know it happened to Geno Smith.
 
Speaking of those fifth year options:
In 2019, the Raiders had just traded edge rusher Khalil Mack and receiver Amari Cooper, but they were awash in first-round picks. They had three of them to use. Those picks were going to be the foundation of a new era.

And they went 0-for-3, an admission they made Friday when they declined fifth-year options on all three of those picks.

According to a release, the team also will revamp the lyrics to their former fight song. The previous fight song, which debuted in 1938, underwent several revisions over the years.
