Who's up for Disney's Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser?

Apparently they either let the media go through or at lifted an embargo, because tons of sites have all been posting reviews and stuff for this. I really wish the extra $$$ to do this, because it looks awesome.

Not only did they airlift the media embargo, but they have actually already launched. It's been up and running now for a week, since March 1st.

The reviews have generally been quite positive. I am trying to avoid too many spoilers, but I've seen enough to convince me, after being rather skeptical after Disney's infamously terrible "preview" video came out a few months back.

If the planets align, I hope to set sail in 2023.

YEs, there would actually be three of us (my wife and daughter) but yeah. I can spend a week at other theme parks for that. When you factor in how Disney World has been raising prices in other areas and giving less for the privilege, it is unfortunately becoming just another theme park.

I've watched the videos and stand by...$6000 for 36 hours. I can plan a 5 day vacation for that AT DISNEY WORLD. (I wouldn't under their current lack of value, but I could). For me and mine, as big of a Star Wars nerd as I am, that is not an acceptable value proposition. Like, at all. We were watching a video walkthrough of the experience last night and both agreed 4 nights? Ok, we could see that. But not what they have structured. It feels like Hammond and the lawyer arguing in Jurassic Park about it being a park for the wealthy, and the lawyer won.

As expensive as it is, I don't really think that outrageous of a price when you consider just how new, big, and complex this whole thing is. Hell, one of the characters you interact with is Rodian who talks with a working, lip synched mouth, that right there couldn't have been easy or cheap.

I agree. If you get a couple of friends and share a room, you could do it for $1500 each, which I think is very reasonable for what you get. Yeah, I know that $6k sucks for a family, but IMO, this looks like a terrible experience for little kids and something far better for a few adults to do together as a group.

If you mean literal cruise ship, they do a Star Trek Cruise every year, but it's just a regular cruise with a bunch of Trek stars, and Trek themed events and areas on the ship, not an actual Star Trek cruise ship.

Meh, I'll just settle for Galaxy's Edge. At least cosplay is encouraged in Galactic Starcruiser.
Normally adults can't wear full costumes in the Disney parks, to avoid confusion with costumed cast members and prevent detracting from other people's guest experience, or something like that. And yet, last time I went to a Disney park they let someone in wearing a trashy tank top showing Princess Jasmine smoking a huge joint.

That was exactly how it started out, with the guests in a recreation of the Enterprise-D. You even went through a little a storyline where one of the guests was an ancestor of Picard who a group of rogue Klingons pulled into the future. You got to go from the transporter room, down a hall, and onto the bridge, where some of the in person cast members, "talked" to Riker and Geordi on the viewscreen, then rode in a turbolift and into the shuttlebay. You then got on a "shuttlecraft", motion simulator ride that returned you to Las Vegas. You then went down to the shopping, dining, and gambling area, which were based on DS9' promenade. You even got to eat at Quark's and of course it's menu was all Trek themed. I think I actually still have my napkin with the Quark's logo on it. My family did it when we went to Vegas in the '00s and it was so much fun. It wasn't there yet when we went, but they eventually added a second simulator ride based around the Borg with Kate Mulgrew, Robert Picardo, and one of the Borg Queen actresses.

I went in '08 just before they shut it down. Got to ride both rides and had a blast just hanging out in Trek land for a few hours.

Movie Park Germany has a Star Trek attraction called Operation Enterprise with it's own Enterprise-D transporter room, corridor and bridge. Instead of a motion simulator you get in a TNG shuttlecraft-shaped roller coaster. They even have a Starfleet HQ hub with a restaurant and gift shop. I've never been but it sounds even better than the Experience!

They've completely relaxed the costume rules in Galaxy's Edge. I see people there all the time in basically full Jedi or smuggler outfits. I think they frown upon full body or face makeup, but basically anything else goes at this point.

Which was very, very smart of them.

It was delightful and amazing and I went to ST:TE many times during the ten years or so it was in operation. Near the end, things started to fall off. Food quality and Quark's took a nosedive and they simplified the menu (and also got rid of the funny, in-universe descriptions on the menu! Seriously, WTF?)

I never liked the second attraction, Borg Encounter. Thought it was pretty weak and it was missing the fantastic immersive storyline of the original. Instead of a surprise "beam" onto the Enterprise with a time-travel story that explained why 20th/21st Century Vegas tourists found themselves in the Trek universe, they literally didn't even bother. They just said, "Walk over here. Congrats, now you're in space." Boooo!

That definitely doesn't sound better than ST: The Experience, but it does sound like fun.
