The canon-adjacent spin-off of Star Wars Visions drops all eight episodes tomorrow on Disney+ and Hulu. Created by Kenji Kamiyama and Production I.G. in cooperation with Lucasfilm Animation, The Ninth Jedi continues story that began in the STV episode of the same name.

Crap, I need to get caught up and watch the second episode from the last round of "Visions." The first episode remains the best one in all of Visions' run.
 
Just finished episode 4. It feels like the end of a movie if it was one. “Episode 52” if you will. :)
It’s a fun show but I wish they showed some big advancement from the movies if this is set 1000 years later. Only the lightsabers seem to be the biggest difference.

Kara’s dad and the big bad seem to have discovered what the Je’daii used to teach 25,000 BBY about being neutral. Using abilities from both sides but not using too much. I believe that’s what their sabers are trying to represent.
 
Watched it all.
In all i liked it. using the lightsabre as a mood ring is a bit interesting.

In all the Villian wasn't fleshed out like i would have liked, his motivation is kinda just. world domination for "reasons" fell a bit flat to me, and a few other "really?" but in all not bad.

Wish there was a bit more world building, its been a "1000 years or generations" since the skywalker era. what has happened. what state the galaxy is in etc.

its listed as a "Season 1" so i guess if it does well there will be a season 2. I wouldn't mind that.
 
Overall, I give The Ninth Jedi a thumbs up.

It has succeeded in creating interesting characters, in telling a fresh, elaborate story in long form, and in treating a theme in a new way that's been critical to the entire franchise since the OT, the theme of redemption.

The premise that fallen Jedi can be fully redeemed, this time in life, is a very serious idea that deserves serious treatment, or else it's ridiculous and absurd. While I don't consider The Ninth Jedi to have gone all the way to give due weight to all of the factors that are essential for considering somebody to be redeemed, nevertheless Mitsuyasu Sakai deserves credit for clearly identifying and focusing on the theme of redemption.

There were a few plot and story issues, but none of those were fatal to the overall story.

Something that likely would have benefited the presentation is more frames per second in the traditional animation, but I expect that that is a cost issue. In terms of what was there, sometimes the artwork was extremely beautiful.
