Does the United States still exist in the 23rd century?

Just as post-monarchical countries like Germany and Greece still have members of their former royal families who claim titles I'm sure Trek Era Britain also has Windsors who claim ties to a King or Queen from centuries before.

"My great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother was Queen of the United Kingdom, you know! Elizabeth Windsor!"

"That's lovely, dear. Did you want another steak with your grocery order?"

"Sure, I've got enough Federation credits on my UBI this week I can afford to splurge."

How dare you mention monetary transactions as a means of exchange, human Trek don't have money! Off with your head!

Several of the royal properties are held by a trust and are not private property. But the Queen does own two properties directly, Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House.

If the Picards can keep their chateau , I'm sure the Windsors can keep a castle or two.

1. I've always said that chateaux picard was a historical recreation event/park, and the picards might not even be the picards, either re-creationists that forgot that they were re-creationists after a few generations or straight out clones.

2. They abandoned the vineyard. I doubt they paid taxes on it when they were in England for a century. So how did they get it back if it was ceased as abandoned and fallow land by old France before WWIII and Before the world government?

They know people.

If the Picards were given back their land by the world government more than a century after losing it to organizational/financial blunders, and war, maybe they gave the Trump Family back everything Donald lost to bankruptcy and laziness like Trump University and Trump Vodka?

It's probably a similar arrangement to the EU. The US exists, as do individual states but the US is part of the Global Union or United Earth.

The EU was created during peace time and economic prosperity to multiply that prosperity.

The United Earth World Government was trying to Knit back together a cursed earth of illiterate Mutant canabals.

Who says they lost it? Looks like they just decided to not to live there and keep it up.

Absolutely, but with the EU each country still has a President or PM, plus (I'm guessing) local government leaders. I'd say that on a united Earth, "member countries" would at least have a representative, if not a President. Hopefully smaller government can work.

Unlikely.

That courtroom had to be operated by some organization, after all.

In the grand scheme of things, yes.

Some organization?

If the soldier was on meth, then they were all on meth, and that is why they didn't flinch when God came down from heaven to prosecute future spacemen.

The only organization they had was making the meth, and figuring out how to pass around the meth equably.

Q said "...where humans learned to control their military with drugs." There must be some organization doing that controlling. And the most likely candidate is, a government.

In fact, the symbol on the foreheads of the Fourth World soldiers in the courtroom scene was going to turn up in "In a Mirror, Darkly"...as Colonel Green's symbol. So perhaps the court was operated by the Optimum Movement.
