Kudos for honesty.Exactly.
Nope. Im a star trek fan. I feel it's my duty to review these shows and warn others if the are bad like STD or give them thumbs up if they are good lije SNW has been mostly so far.
Stop gatekeeping. Fans are not obligated to watch everything a franchise releases. If you don't like something, don't watch it. Let people make up their own minds, it's not your job.
Good and bad are subjective, just because YOU dislike something, doesn't mean everyone will dislike it.
Yeah but you're bias because actively dislike the show.I feel i owe it to my friends who might not have the time to watch it and ask me what I thought of it. Some are not so interested in the serialized story telling so I let them know what I think. I watch a lot of TV and movies so its always been that way.
I am confident that you don't owe them anything.I feel i owe it to my friends who might not have the time to watch it and ask me what I thought of it. Some are not so interested in the serialized story telling so I let them know what I think. I watch a lot of TV and movies so its always been that way.
Yeah, but dude...you're not sharing consumer research with your friends here. You're talking to strangers who've mostly already seen the thing.I feel i owe it to my friends who might not have the time to watch it and ask me what I thought of it. Not that I like STD, either...
Indeed. And in fact I have had more even keeled discussion with religious zealots than with Trek fans at times.Gatekeepers aren't fans, they are zealots. They are comparable to religious nut jobs who stand on street corners with signs that read "the end is near".
And speaking as a Star Trek fan of 45 years, I enthusiastically recommend all the new Star Trek shows with the caveat that not all iterations of the show will appeal to everybody.
A friend is just a stranger you haven’t trolled yet.Well you never know. Lol
A friend is just a stranger you haven’t trolled yet.
That said, I would defend against any gate keeping your right to watch, criticize, and report back. It’s just the right thing to do. For example, I trusted others to watch the Six O’Clock Follies that were the White House updates on COVID. Those people watched it so I didn’t have to.
So, for your adventures in curation,

I salute you.
Who exactly? Are you on other sites warning folks? Do you talk Trek with co-workers, family and strangers on the street?Thank you. I do try and keep others in the loop of what's going on. I'll take the lumps watching STD so they don't have to.![]()

I doubt any cats watching Star Trek Strange New Worlds care.Family, friends and youtube pals.
Never said they did. But like any fan if the star trek universe I feel it my duty to watch and review the show.
Not complaining, but like Spock I note that George Samuel Kirk is called Sam by Pike. I thought Jim Kirk was the only one who called him Sam. Like I said, I am not complaining, " I note it, Doctor"
P.S. I think Spock was talking to Scotty and not Doctor McCoy. My memory is a little fuzzy. The episode with Lee Meriweather and the "feel of the ship".
During early TOS, communication with far flung space vessels was not treated as casual and common.
They even referred to the now-forgotten "subspace lag" which often meant that real-time communication was impossible.
