Spoilers Moon Knight discussion

Overall, as others have said, a rather generic conclusion to the season, but one with some truly spectacular moments.

The best being, obviously, everything Layla. From her initial interaction with Taweret out in the desert to becoming Taweret's avatar (right after flatly refusing Khonshu!) to her becoming her own Egyptian superhero (I adored that exchange with the young girl she saved!), everything Layla in this episode was breathtaking. So much of that is due to May Calamawy and I cannot wait to see her return in the MCU, wherever that might be. As much I love everything Oscar Isaac has done with Marc, Steven, Jake (what little we saw), and their versions of Moon Knight throughout this season, I'm actually more excited to see Layla again.

- End Credits - due to how abruptly the show ends i was very confused why Harrow was in a mental institution ( a real one) and how he got there ( seemed to be in the US).
They were actually in London which was made clear by the skyline (most notably by the Gherkin). I'm not sure why you thought the US since we never even saw it in this series.

They mentioned Madripoor in The Friendly Type, which indirectly links it to the events in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I believe we were meant to infer that Anton and Layla know Sharon Carter/the Powerbroker.
Damn, I completely missed that reference. I'll have to go back and rewatch those scenes.

You said it Buddy. Like, like, like.

John Campea brings up a potential huge plot hole. How do we reconcile the 3rd personality with ep 5? In ep 5, Taweret pulls out 2 hearts and they don't balance until Marc comes to terms with Steven. But how can the two hearts balance given there is a 3rd personality? What about the 3rd personality? How come Taweret did not pull out 3 hearts? And how did the 2 hearts balance if there is a 3rd personality? Basically, all of ep 5 seems to be based on 2 personalities. It seems to fall apart if you introduce a 3rd personality. One possibility is that the Steven and Marc were completely unaware of the 3rd personality so it was completely hidden. But that still leaves the question of how come an Egyptian god like Taweret who weighs the hearts of the people going to the after life, not know about the 3rd personality.

The scale was unbalance because of the third personality. As soon as Steven was out of the picture the scale weighed just two hearts against each other and was balanced.
Also, I am still convinced we saw Jake in episode 5 at least once.

This was really strong, if a little rushed. Everything with Marc and Steven (and Jake) was gold. I liked Scarlet Scarab (Tawaret-Lyla). The wings were a nice touch.

One thing I loved: at the end of the series Marc and Steven are right back where Steven started. Living in Steven's apartment, chained to a bed, taking care of fish. And mostly unaware of another personality running amok in service to Khonshu. This was a nice touch.

Captain Carter, Kate Bishop, Loki, Thor, Xialing, Layla, Marvel is going to give every single hero a female counterpart apparently.

Where were or what are the MARVEL connections other than it being characters from their IP library?

So far just an easter egg or two like the Ancestral Plain and Madripoor mentions, but now that he's established he could pop up in Echo, Eternals, Blade, Avengers or wherever...team up with Daredevil or Ghost Rider or Shang Chi or whoever.

Captain Carter, Kate Bishop, Loki, Thor, Xialing, Layla, Marvel is going to give every single hero a female counterpart apparently.

Hardly a new idea: just ask She-Hulk, Spider Woman, Spider Girl, Ms Marvel, Rescue...or outside of Marvel: Supergirl, Power Girl, Batgirl, Batwoman, Miss Martian, Mary Marvel, Mera, Aquagirl, all the female Green Lanterns, Arrowette, Lady Flash, Hawkgirl, Hawkwoman, Zatanna, Element Girl...

Besides, based on the post credits scene in Shang-Shi I'm not sure that we can count on Xialing being a good guy.

In terms of my perverse mastubatory fantasies, it works. Is it REALLY just about equal representation?

I thought about that particular issue for a time, especially after the scene with Layla in Superhero Mode and the girl admiring her.

Many people rail against wokeism and the push for women to get equal treatment ( some of them women), i have this in my private circle too and from a woman.

I am caucasian ( so is she) so we grew up with the status quo - most of the heroes out of Hollywood looked like us and we grew accustomed to it. This is changing because we realized that white people are not the majority in this world and we are mixing with other cultures at an increasing rate yet those cultures don't get the same recognition in mass appeal entertainment until now.

I've read so many reports about positive non-white role models - Black Panther being one of the biggest in recent years and that blew up like mad across the US and in the world - up to now with Moon Knight ( and especially Layla) and the upcoming Ms. Marvel show that will feature the first MCU muslim character.

I love it and i believe Marvel needs this diversity because how many times can you do battle in New York or a New York like western city before it gets old?

One thing that was also studied is that regions with a larger mix of different cultures have less problems with xenophobia and extremism because people get to experience other cultures first hand as opposed to predominantly homogenous regions that have more problems. So everything helps, even it is "just" superhero entertainment,

I think the last two episodes (plus the last ten minutes or so of episode 3) have made the series. Be interesting to see where they go next (if at all?) I mean the ending implies we haven't seen the last of Moon Knight or Steven/Marc/Jake. Another series or will Moon Knight wind up in a film now? I hope we haven't seen the last of superhero Layla either.

I hope so too - it would be a terrible waste not to continue after this season. It all depends on Isaac who made it clear he's only on board for one season and Marvel has apparently entered this season for Emmy consideration as a Limited Season, meaning no more seasons after that.

So there are quite a few mixed signals out there and i hope we get some official statement in the next weeks by Marvel.

There are definitely mixed signals because they could have ended it without the mid credits scene. The presence of Jake strongly implies Isaac is coming back in some shape or form. I dunno, maybe the plan is for a Moon Knight movie now?

Maybe it helped that I had lowered expectations coming in with it being the shortest episode and not knowing how they could wrap everything up but I really enjoyed that actually! It was rather standard Marvel-esque with turning into a big smackdown but I thought having the divine kaiju battle happen in the background made it seem at least somewhat unique. Layla was fantastic throughout, both telling off Khonshu and then accepting Tawaret and going full superhero. Marc going back for Steven, making that sacrifice and the two of them becoming integrated was wonderful, a real highlight. It was an interesting choice to black out for the defeat of Harrow, basically confirming that there's a third personality so I'm glad we had that reveal in the credits scene.

It's not without quibbles from me - in particular I was annoyed by how the rest of the Ennead were so casually disposed of by Harrow without even putting up a fight on camera. Plus I would have rather Hathor be the one with lines. But I guess that's standard, just annoying. And I still wanna see more of them in general - still would have preferred Anubis for example.

Still, considering everything I was very very happy. And Oscar Isaac put in a great performance throughout. But we have to be getting more Moon Knight right? They can't leave us with that credits scene and nothing more.
